S/he also instructs students to formulate moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence.Essential FunctionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functionsOrganization and CommunicationSends information/correspondence to players and parentsConducts orientation programs for parents, athletes, and assistant coachesWorks with Principal or Principal’s designee to develop non-league schedule and confirm league scheduleDevelops procedures and establishes open communication with parents and athletes to address any issues or concerns related to the teamAdministrativeWorks with Athletic Director to prepare budget for the sport being coachedManages the ordering, inventory, repair, and cleaning of all sport-specific equipmentWorks with Principal or Principal’s designee to secure officials for non-league home gamesWorks with Principal or Principal’s designee to make transportation arrangements for away gamesEnsures completion of yearly physical exam and insurance coverage for each athleteWorks with Athletic Director, Counselors, and Athletic Office to confirm both residential and academic eligibility of each athleteDistributes team rosters, contest schedules, and contest locations to all players and parents/guardiansMonitors athlete class attendance, behavior, and academic progressWorks with Athletic Director to establish set practice times and locationsSupervises and directs activities of any assistant coachesEnsures quality, effectiveness, and validity of any oral or written correspondence with the mediaWorks with Athletic Director to determine and procure any team awardsTraining and Preparation of AthletesHolds fair and equitable tryoutsProvides all team rules and regulations to team membersProvides training on all rules and skills of the specific sportProvides training on physical conditioning and injury preventionInstitutes, teaches, and monitors all drillsProvides appropriate sport specific tactical trainingProvides positive motivationDisciplines players as necessary in accordance with team, SCIAA, TSSAA OR TMSSASelects, directs, and monitors activities of any team managersConfers with medical personnel for proper approval prior to allowing any injured player to return to athletic activityAdditional:Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, the Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, value statements including antiracism, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior Perform other related duties as required and assigned. Qualifications Competencies:Knowledge of overall operation of an athletic programMinimum educational level:College-level Child Psychology Course or previous work with youthExperience required:Previous Coaching Experience or College level or higher playing experience in the sport being coachedPhysical requirements: Stand, walk or bend over, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, grasp, push, and pull.
