Compensation: $95,040.56 - $110,175.56Position open until filled.To apply, click here:To read the full job description, click here:BRIEF DESCRIPTIONUnder the direction of the Assistant Director of Public Works/City Engineer or designee, this position performs professional engineering work in the planning, design, review, and management of Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects.Responsibilities include reviewing and approving construction plans; managing the design and construction of projects related to paving, traffic, drainage, water, wastewater, and vertical infrastructure; and performing full contract administration functions. The position exercises independent judgment and applies advanced technical knowledge to ensure compliance with established engineering standards, regulations, and City policies.This role requires strong technical expertise, sound professional judgment, and the ability to oversee projects from initial planning through completion.NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESThorough technical knowledge of civil engineeringKnowledge of engineering and design principles applicable to fieldsKnowledge of modern methods, materials, and techniques of the assigned disciplineKnowledge of the applicability of established engineering principles and methodsKnowledge of the preparation of cost estimatesAbility to learn and use new software as it becomes available and is neededAbility to perform engineering calculations and analyze engineering problemsAbility to read and comprehend simple specifications, plans, and shop drawingsAbility to interpret and make decisions in conformance with established policies and practicesEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.Two (2) years of experience in a related field is preferred; ORAny equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, may be sufficient.CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIREDA valid Class C Texas driver's license and the ability to maintain a satisfactory driving recordMust have a Professional Engineer's license from the State of Texas or have the ability to obtain it within twelve (12) months from the date of hireMust be a Certified Flood Plain Manager or have the ability to obtain it within twelve (12) months from the date of hireENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND SAFETY HAZARDSPrimarily in an indoor environment with the ability to operate outdoors when needed. May be exposed to extreme heat and cold during the summer and winter months.TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
