Logistics Specialist

Company is not able to sponsor work visa for this position.Sign On BonusCollins Machine Works offers a sign on bonus in the amount of $2,000 to be paid after six months of satisfactory employment performance. Collins Machine Works also offers employee referral bonuses in the amount of $1,000 per referral to be paid after the referred employee completed six months of satisfactory employment performance.Major Responsibilities & Essential FunctionsPackages, labels, palletizes and otherwise prepare shipments for transit.Prepares pack slips and bills of lading for shipments.Works with third party logistics company (3PL) to schedule shipments.Prepares and schedules small pack (UPS, Fedex, DHL, etc.) shipments.Compares the quantity and part description of items received with the purchase order to ensure completeness and accuracy of order. Escalates issues to purchasing department.Examines incoming items for defects in materials either from work performed or damage occurred in transit.Performs basic Inspection and measurement of items for accuracy, in accordance with purchase order and shipping documents.Tags conforming and non-conforming material, as required.Stamps, engraves, and otherwise marks finished and unfinished goods with identification information.Routes all shipping documents and other paperwork received to the proper departments for action. Notifies internal requestors of material arrival.Maintains cleanliness and organization in shipping and receiving.Works with Inventory Specialist to properly add and remove items from inventory.Pickup and/or drop off of parts, and materials to suppliers and vendors, as needed.Other general labor tasks as needed depending on factory workflow.Ensure material and assets are properly stored and maintained.BenefitsMedical, Dental and Vision Insurance401K with company matchPaid Time OffShort Term Disability and basic Life Insurance provided by companySupplementary Insurance: Accident, Critical Illness, Voluntary Life/AD&D, and Long Term Disability availableEmployee Assistance ProgramsOpportunity for yearly bonus, profit sharing, overtime, and night shift differentialQualificationsWill require the completion of a forklift certification. Applicants should have good to excellent forklift driving skills.A valid Driver's License with a good driving record is required for this position as there is a need for deliveries and pickups from vendors or our second Portsmouth location as business needs require.Must have experience with typical logistics workflows.Must know how to inspect deliveries and be ready to refuse shipments if necessary.Attention to detail can be the key to a safe environment, not just for yourself, but for everyone around you.Must have the ability to follow directions, work independently, and with minimal supervision.Must have good time management skills to work on multiple projects within the same day. The ability to triage jobs based on the time they are due, not necessarily the size.Must have experience working with Microsoft 365 Products: Outlook, Excel, and Word.Applicants should have moderate computer skills and be familiar with typical business software (Office 365 suite, ERP, etc).Being resourceful and having the ability and willingness to learn.A strong work ethic, an unplanned absence could prevent a crew from having the material needed to complete a job. Overtime is possible and could be required as needed.Organizational skills are required. This position is responsible for the tool room which includes shelves of vendor supplied materials and filing inspection reports. The Syer Road tool room is a hub for all 3 of our locations and is accessible at times by both our vendors and customers.Language skills - effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written in the English language. Ability to effectively interpret and translate instructions to other employees in a professional and respectful manner. Working with others to utilize shared knowledge, helps ensure that jobs are completed correctly and on time.Candidate must be able to pass a background check to gain access to sites that perform work on US DoD Contracts (on-site).Collins Machine Works actively seeks veteran talent.
