Software Developer

*Position Overview:* The Application Developer will support the U.S. Access Board (USAB) by designing, developing, testing, and maintaining web-based applications and websites. This position requires strong technical skills, experience in e-commerce development, and a thorough understanding of accessibility and Section 508 compliance. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience coordinating projects, using modern development workflows, and creating intuitive, user-centered applications. *Key Responsibilities:* * Design, develop, test, and deploy web applications in support of USAB objectives. * Maintain and ensure 24x7 availability of the main USAB website and its subsites. * Ensure all applications and documentation are fully compliant with *Section 508 accessibility standards*. * Oversee software configuration management, including updates, patches, and system security. * Develop dashboards, monitoring tools, and interfaces that are efficient and user-friendly. * Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements and implement technical solutions. * Document system architecture, workflows, and manage version control with proper documentation practices. * Ensure production of compliant artifacts for all applications, in line with Section 508 and other federal standards. * Follow best practices in configuration management and source code control. *Required Qualifications:* * *Education:* Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. * *Security Clearance:* Must hold or be able to obtain a *Public Trust security clearance*. * *Experience:* * Minimum of *5+ years* of experience as a mid-to-senior-level application developer. * Proven experience in *e-commerce application development* and project coordination. * Strong understanding of *web development workflows*, including agile practices. * Proficiency in *HTML, CSS, Java, JavaScript*, and related technologies. * Hands-on experience with *GitHub*, *SQL/MySQL*, and *UX/UI design principles*. * Experience with software *design, development, unit testing*, and implementation across multiple environments. *Preferred Skills & Competencies:* * Familiarity with government web standards and federal development guidelines. * Working knowledge of *configuration and version control* best practices. * Ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. * Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
