Role: Environmental EngineerLocation: KansasCompensation: $70,000 – $110,000 annually (dependent on experience) + bonus and benefitsAbout:My Client is looking to appoint an Environmental Engineer to join its Environmental & Sustainability function, based in Kansas. This role will work closely with manufacturing engineering teams and sustainability specialists to support its production sites and R&D facilities.The position operates on a Monday–Thursday schedule (6:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) and involves occasional travel.Key Responsibilities:Provide environmental and regulatory guidance to manufacturing operations, including interpretation of air quality regulations and compliance requirements.Support capital investment projects by assisting with air permitting, assessing regulatory obligations, and advising on appropriate air emissions control technologies.Develop and deliver detailed environmental reports, including emissions calculations and sustainability performance metrics, such as annual Air Emissions Inventories and TRI reporting.Monitor and stay up to date with evolving environmental legislation, industry standards, and emerging technologies.Contribute technical expertise to sustainability programmes and support the implementation and maintenance of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.Drive and assist with sustainability initiatives focused on reducing carbon emissions, minimising landfill waste, and increasing recycling and material reuse.Support compliance with NPDES requirements, including reporting and documentation.Ensure adherence to all applicable federal and state environmental regulations, maintaining accurate and timely reporting.Comply with all company and OSHA health and safety standards, including the use of appropriate protective equipment.Undertake additional responsibilities as required, which may involve varying work conditions or technical demands.Candidate Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.Approximately 5+ years of relevant industry experience.Strong understanding of U.S. federal and Kansas state environmental regulations.Experience with ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems is advantageous.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to a range of stakeholders.Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with attention to detail and the ability to address complex challenges efficiently.
