The Assistant Environmental Services Aide is responsible for the collection and proper disposal of medical solid waste and trash, as well as the distribution of linens and floor care maintenance. This position also involves performing housekeeping and janitorial duties in patient care areas, administrative offices, and public spaces.Key Responsibilities Ensure a safe and clean working environment, adhering to unit-based safety and infection control protocols.Safely move heavy equipment, bins, and receptacles as needed.Collect biohazard waste and trash throughout the facility and dispose of them in designated receptacles.Distribute and collect linens efficiently.Maintain and clean floors according to established schedules and standards.Relocate patient beds, furniture, boxes, desks, supplies, and other equipment as assigned.Clean and maintain assigned areas following organizational standards.Maintain safety at all times, including the proper use of wet floor signs and personal protective equipment.Understand and fulfill responsibilities during emergency or disaster situations.Clean discharge and occupied rooms according to departmental training checklists.Provide professional and courteous customer service consistently.Stay current with all hospital-required trainings and health screenings.Qualifications Ability to push and pull a minimum of 750 lbs. and lift at least 75 lbs.Knowledge of proper floor care, trash collection, linen distribution, and safe lifting techniques.Experience handling cleaning chemicals and solutions safely.Completion of on-the-job training related to cleaning equipment and health standards.Minimum of one year of housekeeping or janitorial experience preferred.Strong reading comprehension and communication skills in English.Experience with surgical floor care, including stripping, waxing, and buffing, is a plus for surgical services roles.Familiarity with floor scrubber and buffing equipment is beneficial.Understanding of cleaning agents and soil removal in operating room environments is advantageous.Education High school diploma or GED preferred.Licenses Valid driver's license required for evening shift positions within six months of hire or transfer.All candidates must successfully complete a physical evaluation, drug screening, and background checks prior to employment. Compliance with regional health mandates, including COVID-19 vaccination requirements, is mandatory.
