Bio NewcoEast Boston, MAApril 22nd, 2026
About the RoleWe are seeking a highly motivated and creative Scientist/Senior Scientist, Biologist (In Vitro Biology Lead) to lead the development of our in vitro biology engine and drive discovery of next-generation genetic medicines in a venture-backed early-stage biotech. This role will be central to building and scaling cellular models and bioassays that enable rapid screening, mechanistic understanding, and candidate nomination. Our initial focus is on kidney and immune diseases, leveraging a novel ligand-guided siRNA delivery platform. The ideal candidate is a hands-on experimentalist with deep expertise in cell and molecular biology, and bioassay development, and a strong desire to operate in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment. This is a unique opportunity to shape core platform capabilities, work closely with leadership, and directly impact therapeutic programs from concept to preclinical development. The primary location is on-site at Boston, MAKey ResponsibilitiesIn Vitro Biology Engine (Primary Focus)-Lead the design and build-out of the in vitro biology platform, including:-Disease-relevant cellular models (e.g., kidney cells, immune cells, epithelial systems)-Binding, internalization, trafficking, and functional delivery assays-Develop and optimize robust, scalable bioassays to support: ligand discovery and ligand–siRNA conjugate screening (uptake, endosomal escape, knockdown)Program Execution-Design, execute, and interpret in vitro experiments to evaluate genetic medicines across relevant models-Generate high-quality data to support candidate selection and DC nomination-Contribute to target biology and validation, including receptor expression and trafficking characterizationTranslational & In Vivo Support-Collaborate on in vivo study design, sample analysis, and data interpretation (PK/PD, biodistribution, efficacy)-Ensure alignment between in vitro findings and in vivo outcomesCross-Functional Impact-Operate as a scientific “athlete” across platform needs, including exploratory biology and assay innovation-Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (chemistry, delivery, translational, external partners)-Contribute to external collaborations (CROs, academic labs, KOLs)Data & Communication-Analyze and present data clearly to internal teams and external audiences-Maintain rigorous documentation in electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN)-Support preparation of presentations, study reports, patents and publicationsRequired Qualifications-PhD in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or related field with 2–5 years of postdoctoral or industry experience-Strong hands-on expertise in mammalian cell culture, qPCR/RT-qPCR, flow cytometry, ELISA/MSD, Western blot, immunostaining-Proven track record in in vitro assay development and optimization-Experience supporting or interfacing with in vivo studies-Strong communication and collaboration skillsPreferred Qualifications-Experience with siRNA, ASO, or nucleic acid therapeutics-Experience with ligand-mediated delivery systems-Expertise in receptor biology and trafficking/internalization assays-Experience with nephrology or immunology-Familiarity with high-content imaging or live-cell imaging, and FACS-Prior experience in a startup environmentWhat We are Looking For-Builder mindset with excitement to create new platform-Hands-on leader who enjoys bench work-Strong problem solver comfortable with ambiguity-Collaborative team playerWe are proud to be an Equal Opportunity Affirmative Action Employer. All applicants will be afforded equal opportunity without discrimination because of race, color, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, marital status, order of protection status, national origin or ancestry, citizenship status, age, physical or mental disability unrelated to ability, military status or an unfavorable discharge from military service.
