DepartmentSPECIAL PROCEDURES - 207044Worker Sub TypeAgencyWork ShiftPay GradeJob DescriptionPerforms special procedures exams in the Radiology Department for patients of all ages from pediatric to geriatric.Other Duties May IncludeCOMPLIES WITH ESTABLISHED INSTITUTIONAL AND DEPARTMENTAL POLICIES - Follows all VH personnel policies. Completes mandatory hospital and departmental education, maintains required professional certification and continuing education mandates as necessary, and ACLS. Supervises radiologic technology students during clinical rotations and orientation of new personnel. Notifies supervisor of malfunctioning equipment immediately. Monitors supplies as depleted. Complies with all universal precautions and infection control guidelines.PERFORMS SPECIAL PROCEDURE EXAMS - Correctly makes modifications of preps, exposure factors, positioning and contrast media for patients of all ages including pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric. Operates and positions imaging equipment and other equipment/devices as appropriate, set appropriate technical factors, adapting as necessary for the age of the patient, performs digital subtraction exams and practices radiation protection with accuracy. Prepares angiographic table, supplies, equipment and preps patients accurately utilizing sterile technique. Assist Nursing in assuming care for physical and psychological needs of the patient during the procedures, e.g. monitoring vital signs (before, during and after cases), minimizes patient discomfort. Assists physician in performing the radiographic procedure. (Scrub and/or Circulate) Follows guidelines for universal precautions (infection control) 100% of the time.Uses available information systems technology - Accurately enters data into the EMR and Imaging System to capture patient visit and charge information, including: recording exam time, resource usage, supplies used; accurately modifying studiesUses the Imaging System to record accurate, high quality studies by:Creating images using approved techniquesAnnotating the images, as neededSending all the studies to Imaging Systems and the correct work listLimiting the number of unnecessary unspecified examsEducationProgram Radiologic TechnologyARRT(R) registry required with satisfactory completion of an AMA accredited Radiologic Technology Program. ARRT (CV or VI) registry preferred.Experience2 years Healthcare/Medical - Radiologist experience as a Radiologic Technologist or one year as an RTPrefer one year of intensive training in special proceduresCertification & LicensuresACLS Certified within one year of hire/transfer into position requiredBLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) - AHA approved required *VI Registry must be obtained within 2 yrs of hire date. required New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.QualificationsDemonstrates knowledge of human growth and development.
