Maintains buildings and adjacent grounds in a clean, orderly, and secure condition. Knowledge of proper cleaning methods, including modern methods for cleaning floors, whiteboards, carpet, tile, furniture, walls, and fixtures. Provide training and work direction, as needed. Knowledge of proper storing of equipment, materials, and supplies. Perform all aspects of the position following District safety guidelines and procedures. Knowledge of proper safe lifting techniques. Knowledge of basic record-keeping techniques. Knowledge of inventory management.Working Conditions:Physical Demands:Indoor and outdoor work environmentDexterity of hands and fingers to operate specialized equipmentDriving a vehicle to conduct workAbility to sit or stand for extended periods of timeRegular exposure to fumes, dust and odorsAbility to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, feel, talk, hear, crawl, and to read a variety of printed and coded materialsSeasonal heat and cold or adverse weather conditionsAbility to work indoors and outdoors during all types of weather including hot, cold, rainy, humid, and dry conditionsAbility to lift and transport up to 40 pounds over short distances and short periods of timeDexterity of hands and fingers to operate specialized equipmentQualifications:Minimum of high school diploma or GEDGood oral and written communication skillsPrevious experience performing custodial and light maintenance dutiesThe Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.Essential Functions:Perform routine daily custodial activities individually or as part of a team at an assigned locationSweep, mop, scrub, strip, wax, and polish floorsSpot clean, vacuum and shampoo carpets and rugs in classrooms, offices, and other work areasTrain and provide work direction and guidance to assigned personnelClean classrooms, cafeterias, lounges, offices, facilities, and adjacent grounds, as assignedPaint walls, as neededClean and disinfect drinking fountains and restroom facilities including but not limited to sinks, toilets, and urinalsFill dispensers with towels, soap, toilet paper and other itemsClean mirrors, tile, and windowsUnclog drains and toilets, as neededRemove gum, graffiti, paper and other debris from school buildings, furniture, grounds, walkways, and areas adjacent to school/other facilitiesSweep concrete surfaces adjacent to school/other facilitiesPerform various custodial activities including replacing light bulbs and tubes, replacing air filters, cleaning whiteboards, and emptying pencil sharpeners and waste receptaclesLock and unlock doors and gates, and set and disarm alarms, as assignedMaintain security of assigned areas according to established guidelinesReport maintenance requests and safety and fire hazards to appropriate personnelOperate custodial equipment such as vacuums, mops, strippers, steam cleaners, small hand and power tools, buffer/scrubber machines and other equipment as assignedClean and arrange furniture and equipment for set up/breakdown of meetings and special events in classrooms, multi-purpose rooms and other areas.Perform a variety of routine general maintenance and repairs on equipment and furniture, as neededDust and polish furniture and woodworkMonitor inventory levels of custodial supplies and equipment and communicate inventory needs to assigned zone managerCommunicate with District personnel and outside agencies to exchange information, coordinate activities and resolve issues of concern, as neededPrepare and maintain records and reports related to work orders, personnel and assigned activitiesOther duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designeeApplicants will be selected for interview.
