Job Title: Design Engineer IIJob Location: Huntersville, NC - HybridEligibility/Clearance: ship required as this supports agovernment contractOVERVIEW: Mid-level design engineer with core responsibilities includingproduct and system design and development. This position will be basedout of the Huntersville, NC office with travel required to supportcustomers up to 1.5 hours away. This position will require onsitesupport. The focus will be mechanical system design using CAD andstructural analysis (FEA), supported by systems modeling to substantiatethe lower-level decisions. This position’s responsibilities will spanfrom initial concepts through detailed drawing execution while workingwithin a project team under the review of a design team lead.System-level design responsibility is expected in this position.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SKILLS: Typical responsibilities include but arenot limited to the following:Vehicle and Product System Design and Development.System physics modeling and characterization.CAD system and component concept development and packaging.Application of linear-static Finite Element Analysis in designoptimization.Technical drawing generation.Prepare and present project status reports.Test design, development, and reporting (DVP&R).Project Support.Support and resolve customer problems using mechanical, analytical, CAEand project management skills.Prepare technical specifications.Develop testing methods and procedures.Investigate alternative business opportunities.Support manufacturing by answering questions and responding to ECRs.Present results to and take direction from external customers.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: In addition to the responsibilities mentionedabove, tasks relating to the following area will be assigned asrequired. Experience in parametric 3D modeling and ASME Y14.5-GeometricDimensioning and Tolerancing Motorsport industry experience. (NASCAR preferred) Be a team player. Have great attention to detail. Be interested in technology and learning new things.EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: Minimum 3yrs engineering employment experience. BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive Engineering, orequivalent.REQUIRED SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Experience in Siemens NX 2406 or newer - parametric 3D modeling. ANSYS Mechanical Analysis Windchill product lifecycle management helpful Full Vehicle understanding and how systems interact with each other Mechanical Design – not limited to billet/sheetmetal Composite, mold and tooling design. Strong technical writing, communication, team, andorganizational skills. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint).PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to support technicians and shop builds. Operate simple hand tools, etc.EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: 8am-4pm core (minimum) work hours. Project surge support and additional effort as needed to achieve deadlines.
