The position applies engineering principles and expertise in metal properties and production specifications to solve complex welding challenges.The Welding Engineer will lead research and development efforts to improve existing fabrication processes, introduce new welding methods, and enhance equipment performance.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement welding procedures, including material requirements, pre- and post-heat treatments, and specifications for complex alloys and critical jointsDesign and create welding fixtures to support production efficiency and consistencyDevelop internal passivation methods for weld treatmentsResearch and evaluate new welding technologies and processes for potential implementationOversee inspections and testing to ensure compliance with welding standards, procedures, and national code requirementsSupport certification and qualification of welding personnelCollaborate with procurement teams to establish and maintain supply chains for welding consumables and outsourced componentsPerform hands-on welding, assembly, and fabrication according to customer specificationsProvide technical guidance to ensure quality and process improvementsAdapt to evolving responsibilities in a dynamic work environmentMust-Haves (Required Qualifications)Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related field OR 10+ years of relevant welding experienceLevel II Visual Weld Inspector certification (or equivalent training)Recent hands-on welding experience, preferably with stainless steel (2-4 years)Strong knowledge of welding processes, metallurgy, and fabrication techniquesExperience with quality systems (e.g., ISO 9000 or similar standards)Proficiency in CAD and design tools: SolidWorks, AutoCAD (2D)Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)Ability to work independently in a fast-paced or startup environmentPreferred QualificationsExperience with complex alloys and critical weld applicationsExperience in fixture design and production toolingFamiliarity with supply chain collaboration for manufacturing componentsPhysical RequirementsFrequent sitting, standing, and walkingRegular use of standard office equipment and machinery/toolsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and perform repetitive hand motionsOccasional bending, climbing, and manual handling tasksMinimal travel required
