Job OverviewThe JROTC teacher will plan and implement an instructional program and provide related educational services for students in assigned grade levels. The incumbent will manage student behavior, assess and evaluate student achievement, and modify/control instructional activities as required. The JROTC teacher, under general supervision, will serve a general manager of the Junior ROTC (JROTC) Unit.Position DescriptionEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClassroom Instruction and Student ManagementAssess student abilities as related to desired educational goals, objectives, and outcomes and provide instruction to grow student abilitiesMaintain appropriate assessment and evaluation documentation for instructional and individual reporting purposesPlan appropriate instructional/learning strategies and activities including determination of appropriate level of materialsImplement an instructional program which provides appropriate learning experiences, considering different learning styles and a range of learning curvesAssist and participate in the management of student behavior in instructional settings, including school grounds, centers, and work sites, to ensure environment is conducive to the learning process; intervene to control and modify disruptive behavior, reporting to appropriate administratorUtilize a variety of instructional materials and available multi-media and computer technology to enhance learningManage allotted learning time to maximize student achievementEnsure classroom and/or instructional environment is attractive, beneficial, safe and conducive to learning while ensuring materials are accessible to students and in good conditionMaintain safety in classroomsMaintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and developmentProgram FacilitationDevelop JROTC yearly budget for FBISD and the appropriate governing agencyOrder appropriate equipment and suppliesMaintain timely and accurate budget accountability reportsMaintain accurate annual asset inventory reportsPerform duties delineated in JROTC program instruction as outlined by governing agencyCommunication and CollaborationCommunicate regularly with students on instructional expectations and keep them informed of their progressEnsure continuous communication with parents, both written and oral, to keep them informed of student(s) progressRequest assistance and work with resource personnel to ensure student growthCollaborate with other professionals, including counselors and librarians, to carry out school-wide instructional or related activitiesSupport and/or participate in school-wide student activities and social events and approved fund raising activitiesAssign work and supervise instructional assistants, parents, and student volunteers as neededStay abreast of current industry standardsServe as liaison between JROTC unit and District administrationParticipate in district required professional developmentParticipate in Career and Technical Education (CTE) department professional development and designated district wide eventsSupervisory ResponsibilitiesNoneQualification RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the above essential duties satisfactorily.
