Nurse Paralegal

Milber Makris Plousadis & Seiden, LLP, a full-service civil litigation defense firm and business partner to the insurance industry, is seeking an experienced Nurse Paralegal for our Miami, FL office. This role is fully remote and offers a unique opportunity for healthcare professionals to expand their careers in a law firm. The ideal candidate will leverage their clinical background to efficiently analyze and manage the medical aspects of our cases from inception through trial. Candidates should have knowledge of litigation support, including organizing, reviewing, and analyzing medical records and producing medical chronologies with detailed summaries of medical records addressing complaints, claimed injuries, and medical treatment received, and identifying additional records to be obtained. Candidates are required to have 5+ years as a Registered Nurse. Paralegal certification is a plus but is not mandatory. Candidates must be eager, organized and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.Experience Requirements:5 + years as a Registered Nurse3 + years of law firm Legal Nurse Consultant/Nurse Paralegal experience preferred but not required.Paralegal Certification preferred but not required.Ability to review and analyze medical records of all specialties.Ability to draft/author narrative summaries and analyses of medical records.Superior communication skills with ability to work with numerous attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants simultaneously and coordinate numerous medical-related assignments concurrently.Multitasking expertise with exceptional attention to detail while maintaining quality work product and being mindful of deadlines.Computer proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel & Adobe Acrobat.Highly proficient in typing with excellent grammatical accuracy.Exceptional verbal and written communication, knowledge and understanding of legal/medical terminology and procedures.Primary job duties include but are not limited to the following:Analysis of medical records/medical reporting in claims files, employment and insurance subpoenaed medical records, and within plaintiff’s discovery responses to evaluate pre-existing and/or subsequent relevant medical conditions/diagnoses.Interpreting, organizing, and summarizing extensive medical records and defense documents to identify key issues, deviations from the standard of care, and resulting injuries.Conducting investigative research for applicable medical literature and to identify relevant medical experts.Ability to identify relevant documentation incorporated in medical, insurance, employment, and discovery records, for retained medical experts.Ability to identify proposed medical inquiry in advance of plaintiff and medical experts’ deposition/testimonies.Assisting attorneys with medical needs prior to mediation and isolating relevant medical records.Assist with trial graphics in preparation of trial.Additional job duties as assigned.
