full-stack Java engineer

Position: Full Stack Developer Location: NYC, NY (In person is must) Duration: 12 Months We are seeking a hands-on full-stack Java engineer to design, build, and support new SD capabilities spanning server-side services and a modern React UI, with a strong emphasis on AI-assisted development and automated testing. The ideal candidate is self-driven, thinks and acts strategically, works well in a team, and can solve technology problems of considerable scope and complexity. Key Responsibilities Design and develop full-stack features across the SD platform server-side Java/Spring microservices and React/TypeScript front-end built on a micro-frontend architecture. Build and expand automated UI/E2E test coverage using Playwright (new modules) and Cypress (legacy modules) to strengthen regression coverage toward the 80% target. Leverage AI tooling (GitHub Copilot) for developer productivity, AI-driven test generation, and automated code reviews. Participate across the full SDLC in an Agile team requirements, design, coding, performance testing, rollout, and production support. Build strong relationships with supervisory stakeholders and business unit partners, and support expansion of the platform to other divisions within the firm. Required Qualifications 5+ years of server-side Java experience (Java 17/21, Spring / Spring Boot) building medium-to-large scale systems. Strong React / TypeScript / JavaScript front-end experience (HTML5); familiarity with micro-frontend patterns a plus. Hands-on test automation with Playwright and/or Cypress, plus solid unit and integration testing strategies. Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) in a professional workflow. Solid grounding in relational databases and SQL (PostgreSQL), object-oriented design patterns, Java multithreading, data structures, and algorithms. Experience with Agile/SDLC methodologies and tooling: Git, Jenkins, Gradle, IntelliJ/VSCode. Nice to Have Knowledge of fixed income or equities trading, or supervisory / surveillance domain experience. Exposure to Kafka, Redis, Node.js 20+, Tableau, LaunchDarkly feature flagging, or Camunda/BPMN workflows.
