Bird offers a competitive wage/benefit package, including medical/dental/vision, 401K, and a bonus.ROLE OBJECTIVE:The Electrical Engineering Intern will support the development of an engineering laboratory test environment for evaluating RF power sensors. This role focuses on hands-on lab setup, RF measurement techniques, and automation of test equipment using Python and MATLAB. The intern will work closely with engineering staff to build repeatable test capabilities and contribute to the characterization of RF measurement systems.GENERAL FUNCTIONS/SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:• Assist in the setup and configuration of RF test equipment, including:oArbitrary Waveform Generators (AWG)oVector Network Analyzers (VNA)oSpectrum AnalyzersoRF Power Sensors• Develop and document laboratory test setups for RF power sensor evaluation.• Write scripts in Python to automate control of laboratory instruments (e.g., via SCPI, VISA, or similar interfaces).• Create and maintain a library of test waveforms for AWG-based signal generation using MATLAB and/or Python.• Execute test plans and collect measurement data for analysis and comparison.• Assist in debugging and troubleshooting test setups, instrumentation, and measurement discrepancies.• Document procedures, test methods, and results in a clear and reproducible manner.• Work collaboratively with electrical engineers and technicians to support ongoing development and test activities.REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/COMPETENCIES (Applicant must meet all to be considered):Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related fieldCompleted coursework in:Circuits and electronicsSignals and systems (preferred)Basic programming experience (Python preferred)Familiarity with laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes or signal generatorsStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detailAbility to clearly document technical workDESIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/COMPETENCIES (Applicants may be considered even if they do not possess any or all of these): Exposure to RF fundamentals (frequency domain concepts, impedance, S-parameters)Experience with MATLABFamiliarity with instrument communication protocols (e.g., SCPI, VISA)Experience working in a laboratory environmentInterest in test and measurement systems or RF engineeringEEO/AA/M/F/VET/DISABILITY EMPLOYER
