Located in Cedar Bluff, Virginia, SWCC offers associate's degrees in such fields as business, education, general studies, liberal arts and science. These degrees are primarily intended for students who wish to transfer to a four-year university. SWCC also has associate's degrees that feature programs intended to lead directly to a career in fields such as Nursing, Radiography and Administration of Justice.Adjunct Instructor for Certified Fiber Optics TechnicianSouthwest Virginia Community College (SWCC) is seeking a qualified Adjunct Instructor to teach Certified Fiber Optics Technician (CFOT) certification training. This position supports the College's workforce and career training mission by preparing students for entry-level and advanced careers in fiber optics and telecommunications.Position SummaryThe Adjunct Instructor will deliver hands-on and classroom-based instruction aligned with the Certified Fiber Optics Technician (CFOT) curriculum. Instruction may include short-term workforce training, evening or weekend classes, and customized training for industry partners.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDeliver CFOT certification training in accordance with approved curriculum and industry standardsProvide hands-on instruction in fiber optics theory, safety, installation, termination, testing, and troubleshootingPrepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessmentsEvaluate student performance and maintain accurate recordsEnsure a safe learning environment, particularly during lab-based activitiesMaintain current knowledge of fiber optics technologies and workforce trendsCommunicate effectively with students, staff, and college administratorsInstructional faculty must reside in the state of Virginia or be available to teach in-person classes at one of the Southwest Virginia Community College (SWCC) locations (Main Campus, Lebanon, Bluefield, Southern Gap).Special AssignmentsMay be required to perform other duties as assigned.
