Payroll & Benefits Specialist

We’re looking for someone who can confidently own payroll and benefits end-to-end while supporting employees across a multi-state retail and corporate organization.This role is perfect for someone who thrives in the details, values accuracy, and handles confidential information with the highest level of discretion.What You’ll DoOwn and process payroll using ADP Workforce NowEnsure accurate and timely payroll across multiple statesMaintain and audit payroll, benefits, and employee dataHandle confidential compensation and employee information with discretionManage benefits administration, including employee support, vendor communication, and issue resolutionLead and execute open enrollment processesAdminister and track leaves of absence, including Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), state-specific leave laws, and other applicable leave programsCoordinate workers’ compensation and unemployment claimsEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, including wage and hour lawsPerform reconciliations and coordinate as needed with flexible spending account administratorAssist with 401(k) administration and vendor coordination in connection with IRS non-discrimination testing and 5500 filing coordination with third partiesMaintain accurate paper and electronic employee records and documentationManage onboarding and termination paperwork, including new hire documentation and offboarding processesSupport employee updates and changes within HRIS systemsSupport annual compliance reporting and policy updatesProcess garnishments, deductions, and benefit reconciliationsAssist with 401(k) administration and vendor coordinationPartner with HR, Finance, and leadership on reporting and issue resolutionRespond to employee questions related to payroll, benefits, and leave administrationManage employment verifications and respond to external requests in a timely, accurate, and professional mannerContinuously look for ways to improve processes and accuracyWhat You BringPayroll experience in a multi-state environmentBroad understanding of compliance aspects impacting payroll, including wage and hour, employee classifications (exempt vs. non-exempt), and pay equity and transparency lawsBasic understanding of general ledger payroll mapping maintenance and updatesAble to articulate business requirements to maintain or add new integrations between ADP and third-party benefits carriers or systems, as well as other in-house systemsExperience in reconciliations and audits within ADP with ability to build and analyze standard and custom ADP reportsExperience managing benefits and open enrollmentFamiliarity with Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and leave administrationAbility to operate independently and own a one-person functionStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsHigh level of professionalism and confidentialityStrong communication and problem-solving skillsWhere We OperateThis role supports employees across SEE locations in:Michigan, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New York, South Carolina, Illinois, Ohio, Colorado, Tennessee, Indiana, California, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Oregon, Florida, Washington, and Washington, DC.
