At Applied's CTO group, we focus on solid-state solutions for quantum technology, ranging from superconducting qubits and optical quantum computing to quantum sensing platforms such as NV center based magnetometry and vapor cells. Our primary objective is to collaborate with system companies and universities to develop quantum devices with significantly lower error rates compared to current standards. Our approach centers on harnessing state of the art materials engineering and semiconductor processing, as well as our expertise in advanced optics and other relevant areas to enhance device performance. To achieve this goal, we're seeking individuals with a strong background in quantum technology to join our expanding team. The position will entail the following:+ Identifykey companies in the evolving quantum market and enable new business opportunities.+ Collaborate with process, hardware, integration, and metrology teams to design and develop new quantum sensing devices.+ Explore new growth areas leveragingApplied'sexpertisein precision materials engineering.**Requirements**+ Studentmust be pursuing aMaster'sor PhD degree in Physics, Materials Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.+ Studentmust be in good academic standing at their university, with a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.+ Knowledge and research experience in any of the following or similar quantum technologies: solid‐state spin qubits (e.g., NV‐diamond), vapor cells, Rydberg sensors, frequency combs, transducers for quantum interconnects, nonlinear optics, SQUIDs, single‐photon sources.+ Experience in semiconductor processing and compact quantum devices is preferred.+ Backgroundin business development is a plus.Applied Materials is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity in the workplace.
