Title: Electrical Engineer - DMG MORIReports to: Design LeadLocation: DMG MORI Manufacturing USA, Davis, CA Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pmClassification: ExemptTravel: 25%Employment is conditioned on DMG MORI's ability to obtain and maintain any necessary export licensing.The Electrical Engineer will design, develop, and integrate electrical systems for Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) additive manufacturing equipment. This role involves creating robust electrical architecture, selecting components, and ensuring seamless integration with mechanical and software systems. The engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative, reliable, and compliant LPBF products. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Design and develop electrical systems for LPBF machines, including power distribution and control circuitsCreate detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, and PCB layouts for system componentsSelect and qualify electrical components to meet performance and reliability requirementsIntegrate electrical systems with mechanical and software subsystems for optimal functionalityConduct electrical testing, troubleshooting, and validation of LPBF equipmentEnsure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practicesCollaborate with mechanical and software engineers to resolve design challenges and optimize system performanceSupport manufacturing and assembly teams with electrical documentation and technical guidanceParticipate in design reviews and risk assessments for electrical systemsDrive continuous improvement in electrical design processes and component selectionMinimum RequirementsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field5+ years of experience in electrical design for industrial or complex systemsFamiliarity with laser/optical systems, LPBF or additive manufacturing technologiesProficiency in electrical CAD tools (EPLAN preferred)Strong knowledge of power electronics, sensors, and control systemsExperience with PLCs, embedded systems, and communication protocolsUnderstanding of electrical safety standards and regulatory compliance (UL, CE, NFPA)Ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues in complex systemsExcellent collaboration and communication skills for cross-functional teamworkStrong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyProven flexibility with shifting prioritiesWork EnvironmentExposure to manufacturing/machining environments which may present possible hazards such as noise, electricity, chemicals, heavy equipment, and other automated and manual machinery.
