Item Inventory Renaming Intern - Store EngineeringLocation: La Crosse Support CenterWork Type: Onsite InternshipPosition OverviewKwik Trip is seeking a detail‑oriented Item Inventory Renaming Intern to support an enterprise‑wide item inventory renaming initiative. This onsite internship will focus on cleaning, classifying, and validating item data within the Maximo system to improve item accuracy, consistency, and usability across departments. The intern will work closely with Procurement and Store Engineering teams and gain hands‑on experience with data governance, inventory systems, and cross‑functional collaboration.Key ResponsibilitiesClean and refine initial noun lists pulled from Maximo software in preparation for classification and attribute value assignmentPerform first‑pass attribute value assignments based on item descriptionsComplete second‑pass attribute value assignments to improve accuracy and consistencyDeliver near‑finalized item lists to Procurement for final review and approvalMonitor status change and order reports for inactive or “dead” itemsMonitor new item reports to identify new nouns requiring classification and track items in an unclassified or in‑progress statusCommunicate item renaming updates and changes with Procurement and Store Engineering departments via emailPotentially assist with copying domains and classifications into Maximo Production, depending on available project timeQualificationsCurrently working toward a 2‑year or 4‑year degreeHigh school diploma or GED requiredStrong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy while working with large data setsSelf‑motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a teamEffective written and verbal communication skillsBasic knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software systemsWillingness to utilize AI tools as part of daily work and a basic understanding of prompting large language models (LLMs)Ability to manage multiple tasks and stay organized in a project‑based environmentKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of basic Microsoft Office applicationsStrong organizational and multitasking skillsAbility to learn new processes, systems, and classification standardsAbility to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriatelyAbility to build and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and internal partnersWork Schedule:This is a paid internship. Interested candidates must be willing to work 20+ hours per week Monday through Friday during school semesters and 40 hours per week during school breaks. We offer flexibility to accommodate school schedules.
