OverviewWe are seeking an experienced AWS Data Engineer with strong AWS Cloud skills and Python coding expertise to join our growing data and cloud engineering team. The ideal candidate will design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines and cloud-native data solutions that support analytics, reporting, and advanced data science initiatives. This role requires hands-on experience with AWS services, modern data engineering tools, and relational databases, along with the ability to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams.AWS Data Engineer Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and maintain scalable ETL pipelines using AWS-native servicesLead migration and refactoring of legacy data systems into AWS cloud architectureDevelop data processing workflows using Python (Pandas) and SQLUtilize AWS services such as AWS Glue, AWS Lambda, Amazon EKS, and Amazon CloudWatch for orchestration, monitoring, and automationManage and optimize data storage solutions using PostgreSQL and AWS-based databasesImplement data validation, transformation, and quality checksMonitor and troubleshoot data pipelines to ensure high availability and performanceCollaborate with cross-functional teams (Data Science, Analytics, DevOps)Ensure compliance with Federal data security, governance, and regulatory standardsAWS Data Engineer Required Skills (Must Have)5+ years of experience in Data EngineeringStrong hands-on experience with AWS services: AWS Glue, AWS Lambda, Amazon EKS, Amazon CloudWatchStrong proficiency in Python (Pandas preferred)Advanced knowledge of SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL)Experience building and optimizing ETL/data pipelinesSolid understanding of cloud-based data architecture and data modelingMust be eligible for a Public TrustAWS Data Engineer Good to Have SkillsExposure to Apache Spark, Polars, or distributed data processing frameworksExperience with Spark UI / performance tuning toolsFamiliarity with containerized workloads and Kubernetes (EKS)Experience in large-scale AWS data migration projectsKnowledge of CI/CD pipelines in cloud environmentsAWS Data Engineer Job DetailsEmployment Type: Full-timeWork Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM ESTWork Location: Hybrid – 1 day onsite per week in Suitland, MD and 1 day every other week in Reston, VABenefits:401(k)Dental insuranceFlexible scheduleHealth insurancePaid time offVision insurance
