Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) envisions a world where children are safe, families are strong, and communities are vibrant.LSF is seeking a talented Family Specialist who wants to make an impact in the lives of others.Purpose and Impact:The Family Specialist is responsible for providing Center orientation to new families and providing direct assistance to families that require additional support in completing applications or referral consents. The position will assist in the implementation and facilitation of family support programming and facilitating center-driven programming and events.Essential Functions:Assist in development and implementation of family support programmingProvide Center orientation to new familiesProvide direct assistance to families that require additional support in completing applications or referral consentsRefer and link families to appropriate programs and community resources as neededCoordinate and facilitate Center-driven programming and eventsSupport partner agencies with program registration and follow-upSupport the efforts of all CBFRC staffDocument services, maintain records, complete reports, purchase supplies, input data into a data base systemEnsure Center is a safe warm welcoming environment for allMaintain cooperative working relationship with co-workers, supervisors, families, partners and the communityWork to support Center and collaborative outcomesFollow all CBFRC Policies and ProceduresPerform targeted outreach as neededPerform daily operating proceduresOther duties as assignedOther:Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs.Understand the value and foundation of the Protective Factors frameworkPractice Family Support PrinciplesCross trained to perform daily operating proceduresParticipate in Center events and work to support contractual outcomesObtain training in the Center data system: Attendance and Needs Tracking System and maintain member confidentialityBilingual employees may be needed to review and/or translate (verbal or written communications)Attend mandatory trainings and perform other duties as assigned.Physical Requirements:Must have a high level of energy, positive attitude, adaptability to irregular hours.Work flexible hours to include some evenings and SaturdaysEducation:High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree preferred.Experience:A minimum of two years’ experience in serving families.Skills:The Specialist will be knowledgeable in community resources to provide assistance in implementing strength-based family programming and facilitating center-driven programming or events.Principal Accountabilities:Reports to Center ManagerTeam player with co-workers and administratorsAccurate complete and timely submission of required documents and reportsLiaison to community providers.Adherence to agency policies and procedures.Must maintain confidentiality of all client informationWhy work for LSF?LSF offers 60 programs across the state of Florida serving a wide range of populations in need.
