FLSA Classification: Non- Exempt Reports To: Kitchen ManagerGeneral Purpose: The Cook is required to perform all functions relating to the maintenance and proper preparation of all items for the chef's case, deli case, and salad and hot bars, while maintaining top tier customer service.Work Schedule: 40+ hours per week, weekend work required.Why Work for Us: Langenstein's has recently celebrated its 100th anniversary. We are closed for 5 major holidays and our stores are not open late because we understand the importance of family time.Responsibilities & Duties:Customer ServiceEnsure that food quality, freshness, and presentation meet corporate standards.Cook and help with the preparation of food, adhering to all recipes exactlyEnsure all prepared items are correctly packaged and labeledUnderstand the operation, safety requirements, and restraints of various machinery and equipmentInventory ControlClean Kitchen and all department areas and equipmentUse various kitchen & cleaning equipment, bailer, pallet jacks, and forklifts in compliance with company safety policyKeep Kitchen Department areas, display cases, and counters stocked, clean, and pleasantly presentedUnderstand and practice store safety rulesAlways keep Kitchen Department areas clean and free of debrisUse proper case opening and product stacking techniques to prevent damage to productCommunicate with the Kitchen Manager on problems and recommendations for changeCheck case, cooler and freezer temperatures three times dailyRecord out-of-stock conditions and the time they occur, report to the Kitchen ManagerPerform any other miscellaneous tasks assigned by the Kitchen and/or Store ManagerRequired Education / Experience:Work and education history demonstrating stability1+ years of kitchen experienceAbility to effectively communicateBasic mathematical skills required (add, subtract, multiply, and divide)Problem-solving skillsSelf-starterDependableMust have kettle cooking experience.Physical DemandsWork on tile or concrete standing for extended periods of timeLift a maximum of 50 lbs. from 6 inches to 84 inches, overheadMove a maximum of 50 lbs. up to 15 yardsUse maintenance and product transportation equipmentReach forward and/or down with both hands up to 36 inchesHandle labels, signs or tags, case cutter or utility knife, grasp and handle wet, iced, cold, metal, paper, plastic products, cardboard, packaging, and debris.Bend and Twist at the waist while reaching and holding itemsClimb on ladders, racks, cases, shelving, and stairs up to three feet tall.Balance on wet, slick, dirty, and debris-strewn floors.
