Company Introduction T&T Supermarkets is marking over 30 years as Canada's favorite Asian grocery store and recently announced the first store location in the United States. Our growth into the US offers great opportunities within our first US flagship store, set to open in 2024 in Bellevue, Washington in the Marketplace at Factoria, spanning 76,000 sq.ft. and will stand as the largest Asian specialty supermarket in Washington state.We have additional plans for growth and will also be establishing a regional office in the greater Los Angeles area to grow T&T Supermarket's vendor base with American food suppliers. The Role Reporting to the Head Cook (or his/her delegate), the Assistant Cook is responsible for assisting Head Cook to do food preparation including but not limited to: chopping, cutting, marinating and peeling at the assigned store or Central Kitchen. The Assistant Cook is also responsible for checking the quality/quantities of the receiving food products, carrying and storing the products received, the cleanliness of kitchen utensils, including tools, containers, clothes, towels, working and food storage areas. Major Responsibilities You Will: Responsible for the storage of food, both incoming stock Responsible for preparing ingredients before cooking, such as chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or cleaning seafood Ensure proper receiving is done and food is stored in the appropriate conditions Responsible for his or her own station, ensuring that all items are appropriately cleaned and ready for use before and after each shift Ensure recipes, ingredient specifications, quantity, quality, cooking time as stated in the SOPs are being executed Ensure the kitchen meets sanitation standards as set by the Head Cook and Food safety Ensure product quality, food safety, freshness and FIFO is strictly practiced within the department Ensure that food is properly stored and always handled by ensuring all temperature records are properly completed Responsible for the cleanliness, hygiene, equipment, and tools maintenance; ensure garbage, recycled materials and other disposable items are handled timely and properly You Should Have: Possess knowledgeskills and prior experience in making Kitchen products (include BBQ, Hot Foods, Dim Sum, Sushi and/or others Semi-finished Products) Possess 1 to 3 years and/or above relevant experience Possess knowledge in workplace health & safety and food safety (Food Safe Certification requires) Able to communicate in English, proficiency in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is advantageous Flexible to work in various shifts, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, morning and evening hours Possess basic computer skills in MS Office Benefits Competitive Wages Paid Holiday Leave Premium Pay For Holiday Work Hours Generous Paid Time Off (Annual Vacation, Sick, Marriage, Bereavement) Medical, Dental & Vision Care Life & AD&D Insurance Employee Assistance Program 401(k) Retirement Plan Paid Training 10% Off In-store Staff Purchase Discount Subsidized staff meal Birthday Cake Long Service Award Staff Recreation Activity *Conditions may apply to some of these perks.
