South Slope Communications is seeking a strategic, hands-on Director of Accounting to lead our accounting and billing functions during an exciting period of growth and investment. This role is ideal for an accomplished accounting leader who thrives in a evolving environment, values strong teams, and wants their work to meaningfully support employees, customers, and the communities we serve.As Director of Accounting, you will ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, and partner closely with the CFO and executive leadership to support long-term strategy—especially as we expand and maintain critical telecommunications infrastructure.Why You Should Join UsCommunity-Driven Culture: We go above and beyond to support the communities we serve.High-Growth Environment: Be part of a rapidly expanding organization shaping the future of connectivity.What You’ll DoFinancial Reporting & Close ProcessLead the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsOversee and continuously improve the month-end and year-end close processesEnsure compliance with GAAP and applicable industry standardsRegulatory ComplianceEnsure compliance with Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Rural Utilities Service (RUS), and other federal/state regulatory requirementsSupport the preparation of regulatory filings, cost studies, and reporting requirements unique to telecommunicationsMaintain compliance with loan covenants and reporting requirementsAudit & Internal ControlsLead the annual financial audit and serve as primary liaison with external auditorsDevelop, implement, and maintain strong internal control systemsIdentify and mitigate financial and operational risksAccounting OperationsOversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed asset accountingOversee billing process and collaborate with sales and operations on pricingEnsure accurate accounting for capital-intensive projects, including fiber network expansion and infrastructure investmentsManage plant accounting, depreciation, and work order systems typical of telecom operationsLeadership & Team DevelopmentLead, coach, and develop a high-performing accounting teamFoster a collaborative, service-oriented culture aligned with company valuesPartner across departments to support operational and strategic initiativesStrategic & Financial SupportPartner with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planningProvide insights and analysis to support capital allocation, rate strategies, and growth initiativesContribute to financial reporting and presentations for executive leadership and the Board of DirectorsWhat You BringExperience with ERP systems and advanced financial reporting toolsStrong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skillsExceptional attention to detail with the ability to think strategicallyProven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesA strong commitment to employees, customers, and communityRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)7-10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role preferredExperience in telecommunications environment preferredAdditional RequirementsHigh School Diploma or EquivalentValid driver’s license.Authorization to work in the U.S.Successful completion of a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.Other duties may be assigned based on business needs. Work Schedule & EnvironmentStandard hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PMOccasional overnight travel may be required for training/educationMust be able to work in an office setting while interfacing with employees/peers.Must have the ability to stand and sit continuously.Must have attention to detail, be high energy and have a positive attitude.OtherOther duties may be assigned based on business needs or at the discretion of the Designated Supervisor.Qualified candidates must complete a South Slope application.Reasonable AccommodationReasonable Accommodations can be made if and when requested under ADA.
