Position may be converted from 9 to 11 months or 11 to 9 months based on operational needs.Duties and Responsibilities* Responsible for program effectiveness, including outcomes, organization, administration, continuous review, planning, and development.* Under general supervision, design, deliver, and assess instruction in Medical Sonography in terms of student-learning outcomes; develop and/or update course content and materials, and teaching and assessment strategies and methods to:* improve student attainment of learning outcomes;* address the learning needs of the college's diverse students;* integrate thinking and writing skills into course content, as appropriate; and* use technology to support instruction.* Ensure that students are well prepared for certification examinations conducted by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in the areas of ultrasound physics and instrumentation, abdomen, obstetrics and gynecology* Plan, organize, and independently carry out independent instructional and non-instructional assignments.* Perform other teaching-related duties that include, but are not limited to, preparing course syllabi and maintaining office hours for academic advising and for conferring with students about course work (one office hour per week per three-credit class).* Regular workload may include evening and weekend classes, distance education classes, and teaching at off-campus sites.* Non-teaching duties include:* working collegially to provide service to the department and college,* engaging in public service related to one's professional status and/or expertise, and* engaging in professional development.Minimum Qualifications* Bachelor's degree (in any field);AND* Documents a minimum of two years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in abdominal sonography; and has experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance and in educational theories and techniques.;AND* Current registered diagnostic medical sonographer and certification in Abdomen (RDMS-AB) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.Note: All minimum qualifications must be met by the effective date of appointment.Desirable Qualifications* Master's degree (in any field) or Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.* Five years of professional experience as a diagnostic medical sonographer.* American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification(s) in other specialty areas such as RDMS (BR, FE, OB/GYN, PS), RDCS (AE, FE, PE), RVT, or RMSKS.* Experience in instruction, assessment, academic advising, and student supervision at the post-secondary level.* Evidence of ability to work in a collegial manner with peers, department chairs, and administrators.* Evidence of experience integrating writing, technology, and thinking skills in the teaching of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.* Ability to write clear prose as substantiated by writing samples.* Successful use of technology to support instruction inside and outside of the traditional classroom.* Ability to initiate, execute, and complete projects, including setting specific objectives and measuring results.* Knowledge of and commitment to Kapi'olani Community College's values, mission, and vision of positioning itself as a model indigenous serving institution whose graduates strengthen the social, economic, and sustainable advancement of Hawai'i and the world.INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILLNOTBE CONSIDERED(Read the "To Apply" section carefully)To Apply:Click on the "Apply" button on the top right corner of the screen to complete an application and attach the required documents.
