Mechanical Engineer

Job Overview: PAK BioSolutions is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to develop novel hardware and single-use fluid handling components as a part of the company’s product offerings. PAK BioSolutions designs and manufactures advanced manufacturing equipment used in the biopharmaceutical industry for the purification of biologics. PAK BioSolutions is located in Tysons Corner, VA. Responsibilities This role will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of component design, including conceptualization, prototyping, testing, and final part specification. Responsibilities include the following: Generate ideas/concepts for components that meet the needs of the product Work closely with management to understand product and customer requirements as it relates to new components. Work closely with product development engineers to perform testing on prototypes Create and maintain CAD files/drawings of all company final parts and prototypes Work with 3rd party manufacturers to create components Mechanical function, materials, chemical compatibility, costs, and complexity will all be considered when developing any new component Requirements Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or other related field 5+ years of industry experience with Bachelor’s or 3 years of industry experience with Master’s degree Expert in AutoCAD, SolidWorks or other similar design software Experience with component design for customer facing products Experience designing parts produced by 3D printing, injection molding, blow molding, machining and sheet metal bending An ability to visualize components in relation to the bigger picture of the product, such that considerations to customer experience, durability, and aesthetics are all met Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong interpersonal, problem solving, and communication skills Preferred Skills and Experience Experience in the biopharmaceutical industry and an understanding of product contact material requirements A good understanding of polymer/plastics physical and chemical properties (mechanical strength, chemical compatibility, long term durability, etc.) Benefits 401k with company match Health insurance Dental & Vision insurance Paid time off Federal holidays Flexible working hours including early or late start times Telework (work from home) available on Fridays Schedule Full-Time Monday to Friday Job Type: Full-time Benefits: 401(k) 401(k) matching Dental insurance Flexible schedule Health insurance Paid time off Parental leave Vision insurance Schedule: Monday to Friday Education: Bachelor's (Required) Experience: industry: 3 years (Required) Ability to Relocate: Vienna, VA 22182: Relocate before starting work (Required) Work Location: In person
