Job Description:Principal Investigator - Archaeologist Houston, TXExperience level: Mid-senior Experience required: 5 Years Education level: Masters degree Job function: Engineering Industry: Civil Engineering Compensation: View salary Total position: 1 Relocation assistance: Limited assistance Visa sponsorship eligibility: YesPosition Summary:Principal Investigator (Archaeologist) is responsible for scheduling and managing small to medium projects or co-managing large ones, serving as field lead for Phase I-III fieldwork, and conducting research associated with archaeological investigations. Responsible for writing portions of archaeological reports at the direction of the Senior Archeologist or Section Head. The qualified candidate for this position will oversee or assist in overseeing Phase I-III archaeological work in Texas and surrounding states. This position will have opportunities for growth and to aid in growing the JMT cultural resources group in Texas.?Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesConducts archaeological field work with the ability to identify artifacts and determine the presence of archaeological sitesCollects data and field samples during archaeological investigationsAnalyzes historic and pre-historic artifacts and featuresDocumenting methodologies and findings of research and archaeological investigationsReviews and writes portions of archaeological reports and prepares archaeological site formsAssists in making decisions about project alternatives and the resolution of adverse effects to archaeological resourcesWorks with technical field, lab and office staff, managers (Senior Archaeologist/Section Head) and administrative staff to ensure that projects meet JMT and professional quality standardsMay help with business development through assisting in the preparation of proposals, budgets, and other marketing materialsRequired SkillsStrong written and oral communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office Word and ExcelRequired ExperienceMasters Degree from an accredited school in anthropology or a closely related fieldMust meet the Secretary of the Interiors Qualification Standards for Archaeologists5+ years of experience?(CRM experience preferred)At least 3 of those years need to involve leadership positionsFamiliarity with Section 106 of the National Heritage Preservation Act and with the Antiquities Code of TexasAbility to obtain a Texas Antiquities PermitRegional (Texas/Oklahoma/Louisiana) experience in historic and/or prehistoric archaeologyDemonstrated skills and supervisory experience in Phase I-III fieldworkMust be able to provide a writing sample from either a thesis, dissertation, or archaeological reportMust possess a valid drivers licenseExperience with Federal Agencies and Tribal Nations.The qualified applicant must provide a list of at least 3 professional references with contact information.Preferred ExperienceRegistered Professional Archaeologist (or ability to become registered)Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, ArcGISPro, Field Maps, Google Earth, ArcMap and/or other GIS programsExperience obtaining a Texas Antiquities PermitSignificant lab and curation experienceMUST HAVE:Masters Degree from an accredited school in anthropology or a closely related fieldMust meet the Secretary of the Interiors Qualification Standards for Archaeologists5+ years of experience?(CRM experience preferred)At least 3 of those years need to involve leadership positions.Familiarity with Section 106 of the National Heritage Preservation Act and with the Antiquities Code of Texas.Ability to obtain a Texas Antiquities Permit.Regional (Texas/Oklahoma/Louisiana) experience in historic and/or prehistoric archaeology.Demonstrated skills and supervisory experience in Phase I-III fieldwork.Must be able to provide a writing sample from either a thesis, dissertation, or archaeological report.Must possess a valid drivers license.Experience with Federal Agencies and Tribal Nations.The qualified applicant must provide a list of at least 3 professional references with contact information.Working Place:Houston, Texas, United StatesCompany :
