This role is pivotal in supporting critical missions through the automation and deployment of cloud-native technologies, ensuring the resilience and efficiency of our infrastructure. The position can be based in either Dulles, VA, or El Segundo, CA, and involves working primarily in a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) environment. The role is 100% onsite, with a 9/80 work schedule that provides every other Friday off. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams, providing technical leadership and mentoring to foster growth and innovation within the DevOps team. This role involves travel up to 10% and may require relocation assistance.QualificationsThe ideal candidate must possess an active TS/SCI security clearance at the time of application and be a U.S. citizen. The role is open to candidates with varying levels of experience, depending on the level applied for:Level 3 (Principal): Bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant experience, or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of a degree; Master's degree with 3 years of relevant experience; PhD with 1 year of relevant experience. Candidates should have at least 3+ years of DevOps experience, technical leadership experience, and familiarity with Jira metrics, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible), and Kubernetes.Level 4 (Senior Principal): Bachelor's degree with 8 years of relevant experience, or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of a degree; Master's with 6 years, or PhD with 4 years of relevant experience. Candidates should have 5+ years of DevOps experience, leadership experience, and expertise in Jira, Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes.Preferred qualifications include a STEM degree, experience with Linux automation and scripting, Python, OpenStack, Docker, CI/CD tools like Jenkins or GitLab, and troubleshooting complex automated processes.ResponsibilitiesAs a DevOps Engineer at Northrop Grumman, your responsibilities will include:Automating cloud-native technologies, deploying applications, and provisioning critical infrastructure to support mission requirements.Working with microservices and distributed application architectures, including containers, Kubernetes, and serverless technologies.Configuring and deploying optimized infrastructure within the OpenStack cloud ecosystem.Monitoring system health and resource utilization using enterprise tools such as Nagios, ensuring operational stability and performance.Documenting deployment procedures, best practices, and operational workflows to maintain knowledge continuity.Implementing and managing operational monitoring tools to ensure system reliability.Collaborating with the DevOps team to develop, troubleshoot, and optimize automated deployment processes.Mentoring team members and cross-training to foster a high-performing, knowledgeable DevOps environment.Creating infrastructure-as-code solutions adhering to industry best practices, primarily utilizing Terraform.BenefitsNorthrop Grumman offers a comprehensive Total Rewards package designed to support employees' professional and personal growth.
