Lead Software Engineer
We are seeking a Principal Engineer, Project Engineering Lead to provide technical leadership for the design, integration, implementation, and delivery of complex software, hardware, and systems engineering initiatives. This role will lead cross-functional engineering teams, manage technical requirements, oversee project execution, and ensure successful delivery of high-quality solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesServe as the technical lead for complex software, hardware, and systems integration projects.Apply systems engineering principles across all phases of project execution.Analyze, document, and maintain system requirements and requirements traceability.Collaborate with stakeholders to define and document operational concepts and system needs.Ensure system and subsystem designs satisfy project requirements through documentation, design reviews, and cross-functional collaboration.Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of system architectures and technical solutions.Provide guidance on industry standards, engineering best practices, and regulatory considerations.Develop engineering management plans, including schedules, resource planning, staffing plans, and budget estimates.Identify project risks and opportunities and support mitigation planning.Partner with project management to ensure successful project delivery related to scope, schedule, budget, and quality.Monitor engineering performance and communicate project status to leadership.Recommend and evaluate emerging technologies and alternative technical solutions.Coordinate engineering resources across multiple disciplines to support project objectives.Support business development activities through technical solution development, proposal contributions, compliance reviews, and cost estimation.Perform additional duties as required.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant engineering experience, or an advanced degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.5+ years of engineering experience spanning multiple phases of the system development lifecycle.5+ years of experience managing system requirements and/or leading technical projects.Experience with requirements management platforms (e.g., Jama or similar tools).Experience using project scheduling tools (e.g., Microsoft Project or equivalent).Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills.Demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and motivate cross-functional teams.Strong sense of ownership and accountability for project deliverables.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Experience with configuration and change management practices.Ability to work independently and within team-oriented environments.Preferred QualificationsExperience with system and network architecture and design.Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems.Experience with relational database technologies such as Oracle.Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory.Understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies.Knowledge of systems engineering frameworks and lifecycle models.Familiarity with cybersecurity principles, controls, and operational practices.
