Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree. A minimum of two years of experience in a bus repair or maintenance section of a transportation system to include one year of experience as a supervisor or instructor are required. Additional experience relative to the classification may substitute for the required education on a year for-year basis. Proof of education and work experience to meet minimum qualifications must be presented and will be verified.Recruitment NotesThe preferred candidate for the Division Superintendent role should possess a robust combination of leadership, administrative expertise, and operational acumen, as demonstrated by the tasks performed in this role. This position requires a thorough understanding of Federal, State, County, and Miami-Dade Transit policies and regulations, coupled with the ability to enforce departmental rules and supervise a diverse workforce. A successful candidate will have substantial experience managing approximately 200 bus operators, as well as clerical staff, dispatchers, and transit supervisors, while demonstrating advanced management skills and independent decision-making capabilities.They will have a proven ability to assess operator performance across key metrics, including attendance, safety, and schedule adherence, and will manage records critical to operational transparency, such as daily attendance recaps, dispatch sheets, and incident reports. Candidates should also demonstrate a proactive approach to managing extended absences, coordinating medical or safety-related appointments, and ensuring compliance with physicals, drug, and alcohol screening requirements.The preferred candidate will be adept at conducting disciplinary and grievance hearings, preparing comprehensive reports, and representing the department in appeal hearings, arbitration, and court cases. Their ability to apply rules and policies judiciously while maintaining fairness and professionalism will be critical. Manpower management is a cornerstone of this position, and candidates should demonstrate expertise in planning, organizing, and supervising daily operations, including overseeing lineup picks and approving time-off requests. The ability to assess operators' fitness for duty and recommend appropriate resources for improving performance are crucial.
