This role is responsible for leading system-wide implementation of evidence-based literacy practices, supporting staff development, and guiding curriculum design and evaluation.This position works closely with district and building leadership teams to ensure alignment, coherence, and continuous improvement in teaching and learning.Key ResponsibilitiesLiteracy Leadership (READ Act / Local Literacy Lead)Lead the implementation of Minnesota READ Act requirements across the districtGuide the development and refinement of a comprehensive, research-based literacy frameworkSupport staff in the application of structured literacy practicesMonitor and evaluate literacy outcomes using district and state dataCurriculum and InstructionLead and support district-wide curriculum review, development, and adoption processesEnsure alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment across grade levelsFacilitate professional learning aligned to district priorities and instructional best practicesSupport Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) through data-informed decision makingLeadership and Systems WorkLead cross-functional teams and facilitate collaboration among teachers, specialists, and administratorsSupport building leaders in instructional leadership and continuous improvement effortsAnalyze student performance data to inform strategic decisions and instructional practicesSupport initiatives focused on equity, access, and student achievementOperational ResponsibilitiesManage and oversee curriculum-related budgets (minimum $250,000)Coordinate implementation timelines, resources, and professional developmentEnsure compliance with state and federal requirements related to curriculum and literacyRequired QualificationsMinnesota K 12 Principal LicenseCurrent Minnesota teaching licenseBachelor's degree in reading, education, special education, or related fieldMinimum of five years of experience in English Language Arts instructionDemonstrated systems-level leadership or comparable experienceExperience planning, implementing, and evaluating district-wide initiatives and professional learningStrong skills in data collection, analysis, and instructional decision-makingPreferred QualificationsMaster's degree in reading, education, special education, or related fieldCompletion of an MDE-approved professional development program (CAREIALL, OL&LA, or LETRS for Educators)LETRS, OL&LA, or CAREIALL certification and/or facilitator credentialsExperience leading a curriculum adoption processExperience managing budgets of $250,000 or moreProven ability to lead adult learning and facilitate change in complex systemsExperience working with diverse populations and advancing equitable practicesIdeal CandidateThe ideal candidate is:A strong instructional leader with deep expertise in literacyAble to move from vision to implementation at a systems levelSkilled in leading adult learning and building staff capacityData-driven, strategic, and collaborativeCommitted to continuous improvement and student-centered outcomesCompensation and Contract
