JOB DESCRIPTION:JOB TITLE: Elementary School Assistant Principal - Accelerating Campus Excellence (ACE) CampusREPORTS TO: Principal on Special Assignment - ACE CampusWAGE/HOUR STATUS: ExemptPAY GRADE: CA 1ACE STIPEND: $12,000 Annual ACE Leadership Stipend (in accordance with the District ACE Compensation Plan)PRIMARY PURPOSEThe Assistant Principal - Accelerating Campus Excellence (ACE) Elementary School supports the campus principal in implementing the Accelerating Campus Excellence (ACE) turnaround model and ensuring strong instructional leadership, effective school operations, and systems that accelerate student achievement.The ACE Assistant Principal works collaboratively with the principal and instructional leadership team to support rigorous instruction, strengthen teacher effectiveness, monitor student performance data, and implement campus improvement strategies that lead to measurable improvements in student outcomes.The Assistant Principal must act with integrity, support organizational goals, demonstrate the ability to inspire and support staff, utilize feedback to improve performance, drive results, and champion the needs of students, employees, and the district.QUALIFICATIONSRequiredMaster's degree from an accredited college or universityValid Texas Assistant Principal or other appropriate administrative certificationValid Texas Teaching CertificateMinimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experiencePreferredTwo or more years of successful experience as a campus administratorFive or more years of classroom teaching experienceExperience supporting instructional coaching and teacher developmentExperience working in high-needs or turnaround campusesBilingual (English/Spanish) preferred in some settingsSPECIAL KNOWLEDGE / SKILLSThorough understanding of school operations and campus management systemsStrong knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and effective teaching practicesAbility to analyze and interpret student achievement data to guide instructional improvementKnowledge of state accountability systems and campus improvement planningAbility to coach and support teachers in improving instructional practicesStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to coordinate campus support operations and manage multiple prioritiesKnowledge of federal, state, and local laws and compliance requirementsAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced environment focused on continuous improvementMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIESInstructional ManagementSupport the implementation of the Accelerating Campus Excellence (ACE) instructional model.Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs.Support the principal in ensuring rigorous, standards-aligned instruction in all classrooms.Monitor instructional practices and provide feedback to teachers to strengthen teaching and learning.Support teachers in implementing research-based instructional strategies and high-quality instructional materials.Encourage and support innovative instructional practices and continuous improvement.Promote the effective use of instructional technology in the teaching and learning process.Assist in monitoring student performance data and support interventions to improve student achievement.School / Organizational ClimatePromote a positive, caring school climate that supports student learning and staff collaboration.Communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and community members.Support a school culture that reflects high expectations for both students and staff.Assist in building collaborative teams focused on improving instructional outcomes.Personnel ManagementObserve employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences as assigned.Serve as second appraiser in the teacher appraisal system as designated.Assist the principal in recruiting, interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff members.Support the professional growth and development of teachers through coaching and feedback.Assist in coordinating campus professional development activities aligned with campus instructional goals.Administration and Fiscal / Facilities ManagementSupervise campus operations in the absence of the principal.Assist in planning daily school activities, including class schedules, teacher assignments, and activity schedules.Assist with supervision and monitoring of student attendance and work with attendance personnel on follow-up investigations.Requisition supplies, textbooks, and equipment; maintain inventory and verify receipts for materials.Assist with campus safety inspections and safety drill activities.Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, and district policies.Student ManagementEnsure students are adequately supervised during non-instructional periods.Assist in developing and implementing a student discipline management system that promotes positive student behavior.Ensure school rules are applied consistently and that student discipline practices are fair and equitable.Conduct conferences with parents, students, and teachers regarding student issues and school concerns.Assist in implementing systems that support student attendance, behavior, and academic success.Professional Growth and DevelopmentParticipate in all required professional development and training, which may occur within or outside the regular instructional day or employee work calendar.Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job responsibilities.Participate in instructional leadership meetings, data analysis sessions, and campus improvement planning.Support and participate in campus Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and teacher collaboration structures.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesShare supervisory responsibility for professional staff with the campus principal. Supervise teachers, custodians, paraprofessionals, clerical personnel, and other staff as assigned.Other DutiesPerform all other duties as assigned by the principal in support of campus and district goals.WORKING CONDITIONSThe usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require physical mobility, standing, prolonged sitting, some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling. This position may require travel within the district and statewide.Mental demands include the ability to solve problems, analyze data, interpret policies and regulations, communicate effectively, and maintain emotional control under stress.The position may require participation in professional development, collaborative planning sessions, and instructional meetings beyond the standard school day as part of the ACE instructional model.DISCLAIMER
