Process Engineer

Process Engineer Panolam Surface Systems is a leading manufacturer of interior surfaces, including; high-pressure decorative laminates, thermally fused laminates, and a variety of specialty laminates for decorative as well as industrial applications. We are currently seeking a highly motivated, experienced Process Engineer for our Auburn, ME facility. This position will work in conjunction with the engineering team to drive process improvement and optimization efforts within our manufacturing organization. In this position you will work directly with our Press Department. Focus will primarily be upon cycle time reduction, scrap reduction, reducing operator training times, and implementation of Lean Manufacturing practices. Responsibilities includes: Maintain work instructions for production department. Provide technical support to manufacturing. Manage product guides, BOMs for all product types Focus on continuous improvement in all aspects of production Identify and present cost savings opportunities. Estimate ROI on capital projects. Be able to manage multiple projects while maintaining proficiency on recurring tasks. Foresee potential problems with projects and provide solutions for them. Communicate well with internal as well as external customers inclusive of contractors, engineering firms, vendors, consultants, equipment manufacturers and technicians. Any other tasks required of the job Education/Experience requirements: BS in Mechanical, Industrial or Chemical Engineering Minimum 3 years’ experience in manufacturing Excellent written and verbal communication skills Able to work in a team setting Skilled problem solver Proficient in Word, Excel, Powerpoint Desired Qualifications Knowledgeable of Lean Manufacturing principles Ability to manage implementation of Lean elements (5S, Kaizen, VSM, TPM, etc.) Ability to write Standard Work training documents Project management experience Experience with Citect SCADA OSHA safety training Panolam offers an extensive benefit package and Paid Time Off.
