Health Care Associate

A leading boutique health law firm is seeking one or two junior to mid-level Associates to join its growing Health Care Litigation practice. This role offers the opportunity to represent sophisticated health care providers and suppliers in complex litigation matters while working within a flexible, remote-friendly environment. The practice focuses on advancing health care delivery, supporting regulatory compliance, and improving patient outcomes across the health care sector.The team handle dispute tied to how healthcare businesses operate and get paid, not just generic commercial litigation.Regulatory and compliance disputesIssues involving Medicare/Medicaid reimbursementLicensing and certification problemsChallenges tied to complex healthcare regulationsFraud and abuse–related mattersWork alongside specialists on investigations tied to:Anti-Kickback StatuteStark LawFalse Claims Act exposure (even if not explicitly stated, it’s implied in this space)Government and payer disputesAudits, overpayment claims, recoupment actionsDisputes with CMS or private insurersInternal investigationsReviewing potential compliance breaches within healthcare organizationsResponding to subpoenas and government inquiriesResponsibilities:Support health care litigation matters involving providers and suppliers across the continuum of careDraft legal briefs, motions, and other substantive pleadingsManage all stages of discovery, including e-discoveryParticipate in depositions, arbitrations, and hearingsAssist with internal investigations and responses to subpoenasDevelop a strong understanding of clients’ business operations and strategic goalsProvide practical, clear, and actionable legal advice to clientsCollaborate with attorneys across litigation, fraud and abuse, licensing, and transactional teamsQualifications:Junior to mid-level associate experience with transferable litigation skillsAdmission to practice law in California (required)Located in or near Los Angeles, San Francisco, or San DiegoPrior health care litigation experience is not requiredExperience with brief writing, motion practice, discovery, e-discovery, arbitrations, depositions, or investigationsStrong interest in health law and complex regulatory frameworksExcellent written and verbal communication skillsClient-focused, collaborative, and team-oriented work ethicBenefits:Competitive salary range of $195,000–$360,000, commensurate with experienceComprehensive benefits packageDiscretionary bonus opportunitiesFlexible, remote-friendly working model with no requirement for regular in-office attendanceThe firm is consistently ranked Band 1 for California Healthcare in Chambers USA, and in recent years has had more attorneys ranked in California than any other firmExposure to sophisticated, high-impact health care litigationClear pathways for professional development and advancement within the firm with proven track record of lateral associates progressing to senior associate, counsel, and partner levels, particularly within its California practicesSupportive and inclusive team culture focused on meaningful workVault and associate reviews consistently highlight that despite remote work, the firm maintains a collaborative, partner-accessible cultureIf you are interested in this position, and you meet the requirements of the role, please click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your resume.
