Process Engineer

The Process Engineer provides engineering support to the assigned program and/or area to ensure the product is processed in accordance with customer and division quality requirements while maintaining production flow. This role requires developing and maintaining systems to assure that all products manufactured by the plant meet customer specifications and achieve superior reliability levels. The Process Engineer also investigates and implements new process technology, maintains, upgrades and optimizes the plant, influences preventative maintenance programs, and plays a significant role in capital improvement plans while assisting in work‑area design, plant layout, visual control and metric implementation, material flow, process tracking, and communication. Responsibilities Safety : Assume a leadership position at the facility in partnership with shift supervisors, resolving and communicating safety issues; execute scheduled PHA’s and JSA’s; proactively monitor the area and remediate potential safety issues; use DAKOTA software for compliance and environmental, health, and safety reporting of incidents, near misses, and non‑conformances. Lean Culture : Develop and execute standard‑work activities; assume responsibility for assigned activities on the Engineering Tier and other accountability boards; conduct daily GEMBA walks; improve productivity by eliminating non‑value‑added activities and applying engineering principles to reduce waste. Product Quality : Maximize equipment efficiency and output quality; serve on the facility QIC to identify root causes and prevent future customer complaints; assist in operator training focused on quality‑critical specifications and process parameters; perform equipment troubleshooting and process design. Requirements Education: Bachelor’s degree from a 4‑ or 5‑year college or university; B.S. in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Controls Engineering. Experience: Six months or more of PLC, mechanical, and/or electrical troubleshooting experience or training; Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls Engineering from an ABET‑accredited university; packaging experience or automation equipment experience is preferred. Certificates: Six Sigma Green Belt is a plus. Skills and Abilities: Understanding of process variance and its effects on quality; knowledge of applied statistics; ability to perform problem analysis using problem‑solving methodology; troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude.
