Melt Shop Supervisor

Position: Foundry Melt Shop Production Supervisor Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:• Support, guide, train and coach all associates in the department • Align each associate with performance expectations based on skill and ability and provide them the tools needed to be successful • Responsible for quality and safety in the department • Plan and schedule work activities to meet production targets and deadlines (work with production scheduler) • Monitor team member performance and ensure high productivity levels while maintaining quality • Responsible for performance reviews and corrective action for the associates • Observe machines and equipment for malfunction, repair and adjust accordingly for best operational and quality results • Analyze production data and provide reports to management regarding performance and areas for improvement • Communicate/collaborate with all other departments within the Foundry to support smooth operations • Provide hands-on assistance to backfill or assist with production as necessary • Collaborate with HR and Safety with employee relations and the hiring process • Assist in developing and implementing strategies for improving efficiency and reducing waste • Enforce workplace policy and procedure to promote a safe and healthy work environment • Foster effective employee relations and positive employee morale • Perform other duties as required Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:• High school diploma or GED • 5-10 years of leadership experience in sand casting foundry environment (green sand, no bake sand) or other heavy manufacturing required • Demonstrated knowledge of the molding process • Focus on safety, quality and attention to detail • General knowledge of machines and tools, including their uses and maintenance as well as using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes • Experience inspecting equipment, structures or materials to identify the cause of errors or defects • Ability to read and follow detailed work instructions • Basic computer skills • Effective leadership, verbal and written communication skills Work Environment and Physical Demands:• Handle moving objects: Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning and moving materials. • The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking stooping and handling materials. • Indoor and outdoor climate conditions during all seasons and in varying temperatures. • Ability to lift items up to 50 lbs.
