AV Design Engineer
Job Summary: Designs an AV system solution that fulfills the use requirements for our customers. The solution will specify system capabilities as well as limitations. The AV Design Engineer supports the Sales team throughout the quoting process. The AV Design Engineer provides final design details, guidance to the CAD team for proper/relevant drawings and then briefs an appropriate project handoff/overview/intentions/etc. to the assigned team project manager.

Key Responsibilities
When applicable, accompanies salesperson in performing site visit and detailed needs analysis with the customer.
Assist the salesperson in constructing a preliminary Statement of Functionality (SOF) noting system capabilities and limitations based on customer’s stated objectives.
Develop and provide sales with a complete bill of materials (BOM) based on the agreed SOF. This BOM will include components, hardware, and prefabricated cables to complete the system. An estimated bulk cable and installation hardware cost will also be included. All documents saved to NetSuite. Projects are estimated when quoted, and fully engineered upon award.
Create a system flow diagram based on the BOM and save into BOX.
Complete a labor estimator based on site conditions and scope of work and save to Box.
Once project is won, AV Design Engineer will approve the rough signal flow diagram and release to the CAD team for construction drawings.
Develop a Technical Scope of Work that will be used internally facing for our field operations teams.
Reviews the SOF and BOM with PM for post award processing.
Coordinates documentation for any changes to the BOM based on site conditions and follow-up conversations with PM.
Provide assistance with technical design, bid/service contract pricing, miscellaneous material and labor estimates for proposals as needed.
Meet with vendors/prospective vendors to help evaluate product if requested.
Assist other departments with technical support issues as needed.

Education and Experience Requirements
CTS (minimum requirement), CTS-D (preferred)
3+ years’ experience in AV technical role
Knowledge of AV and Architectural drawings
Knowledge of network infrastructure
Extensive knowledge of Crestron (and Other Control and Switching System) applications
Extensive knowledge of DSP, conferencing devices, audio conferencing best practices
Ability to think and work independently and meet necessary deadlines
Effective interaction with employees, customers, and colleagues
Attention to detail
Problem solving and trouble shooting skills
Working knowledge of network infrastructure including setting up LAN’s
Proficient in MS Office, MS Excel, and general PC based applications
Ability to read construction drawings and system wiring diagrams
Ability to diagnose complex system problems
Strong interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to effectively interact with field personnel, management, and customers
Occasional after hours and/or travel may be required
