POINT QUEST IS HIRING: CE (Counseling Enriched) SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHERSHayward, CA | $10,000 Placement BonusABOUT THE ROLE Point Quest is seeking dedicated CE Special Education Teachers to join our team in Hayward, CA. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students with diverse learning needs.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESLesson Plan Development - Create and submit lesson plans each Friday for the following week. Plans must accommodate various student levels, include assessment procedures, outline content standards, and specify curriculum used.Supervision of Paraprofessionals - Oversee and direct paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom. Primary classroom supervision responsibility rests with the teacher, with support from Program Supervisors and Site Administrators.PBIS Program Implementation - Manage the classroom's Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) program, including tracking behavior points, maintaining the student store, communicating with families, and entering daily behavioral data into Point Quest's database.Classroom Management - Maintain an engaging and safe environment by implementing behavior plans, modifying state-adopted curriculum, and employing strategies tailored to students with various disabilities.IEP Meetings & Documentation - Attend IEP meetings for assigned students. Write annual IEP updates in coordination with the school district and enter all updates (Present Levels, BIP, ITP, and Goals) into SEIS at least 7 days prior to each scheduled meeting.Collaboration - Work collaboratively with staff and outside agencies to effectively support each student's education.Instructional Planning - Design data-driven learning experiences and conduct summative assessments with each student no fewer than three times per year.Professional Development - Participate in twice-monthly teacher meetings and monthly all-staff trainings. Additional outside professional development is strongly encouraged.QUALIFICATIONSEducation & Credentials:Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Special Education strongly recommendedValid CA Special Education Credential (Intern, Preliminary, Clear, Level 1, or Level 2 acceptable)Educational Specialist Credential in Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe disabilities, depending on classroom assignmentExperience:* 2-5 years working with students with learning and/or social-emotional needs* Experience running a special day class and implementing curriculum and behavior interventionsSkills:Strong written and verbal English communication, including business writingExcellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skillsComputer literate with knowledge of standard software and internet applicationsCertifications & Clearances:* DOJ/FBI Live Scan Background & TB Clearance required* Pro-Act, CPI, and/or CPR certification preferredPHYSICAL DEMANDSEnvironment: Occasional exposure to dust, pollen, and fumesActivity: Frequent reaching, handling, standing, walking, and lifting, with or without reasonable accommodationsSensory: Ability to perform essential job functions in moderate to high noise levels, with or without assistive devices or accommodationsPoint Quest Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer and considers all qualified applicants regardless of race, gender, color, religion, national origin, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, veteran status, or other classification protected by law.This job description reflects essential functions and may be adjusted as needed.
