In assisted living and memory care, this role also ensures safety, promotes dignity, and supports engagement for residents with cognitive or physical challenges.Minimum Job Qualifications and Requirements:High School Diploma or equivalentSix months of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experienceAppropriate certification, as required by the statePrevious experience in senior living preferredAttention to detail to administer and accurately record the administration of medications for residents as prescribed by the physician in accordance with established policies and procedures of Sunshine Retirement Living and applicable state/federal regulationsDemonstrated ability to communicate politely and effectively (in English), both verbally and in writing, with residents and staffMeet state-related requirements (if applicable to position)Ability to work in a team setting and be a positive team playerMaintain a positive, respectful, and professional approach with coworkers and residentsPossess excellent customer and organizational skillsAbility to work under time constraints with little supervision and meet department deadlinesTraining or willingness to train in dementia care practices, including redirection, validation, and behavioral support techniquesSatisfactorily pass Sunshine's and state-regulated criminal record clearance, health screening andTB clearance (if applicable)Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:Provide residents with medication administration and treatment assistance according to healthcare provider's ordersMonitor health, safety, and well-being of the residents. Promptly report any changes in resident's physical condition and/or behavior to Health Services Director or Health Services CoordinatorAccurately maintain resident records regarding medication distribution, leisure activities, incidents, and observationsProperly store medications and equipment and keeps the medication room clean and orderlyEnsures prescription label and storage procedures meet state standardProperly follow shift-change procedures and documentationAssist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and eatingSupport residents with memory loss by using patience, empathy, and specialized communication techniquesEncourage and/or remind residents to participate in activities. Promote purposeful engagement that matches residents' cognitive abilities and personal preferencesAssist in keeping the environment safe and happy for residentsImplement elopement-prevention and other safety measures specific to memory care residentsImmediately respond to resident emergencies; provide first aid assistance; debrief and document incident following company proceduresAccurately document medication administration, care provided, and observations in electronic health records per company policyPerforms other duties as assigned by SupervisorOther Job Duties and Responsibilities:Perform all work assigned for the agreed-upon salary, accepting no additional payment or non-perishable gifts from residents, vendors, Community Management, or othersMeet the assigned work requirements of the job.
