Datacenter Operations Technical Program Manager
Bluffdale Our Infrastructure and Shared Services team is adding a contract Technical Program Manager to support datacenter operations in Bluffdale, UT. You will work alongside our existing TPM to coordinate concurrent physical infrastructure projects — hardware refreshes, capacity expansions, migrations, decommissions, and the repair-and-return pipeline that puts recovered assets back into the production fleet. This is a coordination role, not an engineering one. You do not need to build the infrastructure, but you do need to understand it well enough to hold a schedule together and ask the right questions. It is onsite and highly interactive — you will be in the building, in change windows, and on the floor.
Responsibilities:
Maintain project schedules, track dependencies, and keep milestones visible to the teams that depend on them.
Track action items and open issues out of standups and change reviews, and drive them to closure.
Coordinate physical work with the datacenter operations team and vendors: rack-and-stack scheduling, RMA and repair flows, and asset tracking.
Run the status cadence — standups, written updates, and the risk and issue log.
Keep Jira and Confluence current, and maintain runbooks and infrastructure diagrams.
Required qualifications:
Datacenter environment experience. 2–3+ years working in or directly alongside a production datacenter. Familiar with racks and elevations, cabling, change windows, and physical access procedures. Technical fluency. Enough working knowledge of servers, storage, and networking to follow technical discussions, read a rack elevation, and scope work accurately. Comfort with general systems administration concepts. Project coordination. Experience running technical project schedules and managing a high-volume ticket queue, ideally in Jira. Organization and follow-through. A reliable system for tracking commitments across many parallel threads, and the persistence to close them out. Communication and interpersonal skills. Writes clear, specific status updates and works easily with hardware technicians, remote engineering teams, and vendors.
Nice to have:
- Prior time on a datacenter DevOps, infrastructure, or systems administration team.
- Familiarity with enterprise storage systems and storage networking
- Familiarity with fleet validation and return-to-production workflows.
Education:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Management, Data Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in program management at data centers or similar operations.
Experience supporting teams to deliver projects in a constantly evolving environment.
Experience with process documentation, process mapping, and workflow improvements.
Excellent problem-solving and advanced data analytics skills
