The Packer position secures packed items by gluing, tying, stapling, or attaching fasteners and packs items according to quality standards. This position balances teamwork and individual work to ensure packaged orders are filled in both a timely and efficient manner.Essential Duties/ResponsibilitiesResponsible for packing integrity and quality audit checks on all packaging ordersMaintains a clean and safe work area by ensuring that the work areas are clean and well organizedMaintains and repairs packing equipment on a regular basisOperates a variety of material handling equipment such as manual and electric pallet jacks, gas and electric forklifts as needed to perform certain aspects of the jobHandles and discards waste after packing is complete in a safe and responsible mannerPerforms regular and preventative maintenance on packing machines to ensure optimum work cyclesFosters a culture that values family, innovation, collaboration and empowermentFollows all safety and workplace policiesCompetencies and SkillsExhibits good communication skills such as listening and comprehensionDemonstrates accuracy and thoroughness in producing quality productsBalances team and individual responsibilitiesAble to become certified to operate material handling equipment including Forklifts and electric pallet jacksAbility to demonstrate and apply our workplace valuesFlexibility to travel between multiple PD locationsDemonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environmentEducation/Certification/ExperienceHigh School Diploma; and/or two-year degree from Community or Technical/Trade School; and/or one to three years of fast pace, high volume production experience; or equivalent combination education and experience.Physical Requirements and Working ConditionsWalking, sitting, bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling and lifting may be required throughout the workday.
