Lead Manufacturing Systems Engineer ? Elizabeth, NJ ? $135,000 – $165,000 | Direct Hire Zing is seeking a Lead Manufacturing Systems Engineer to help build and scale the digital backbone of a modern manufacturing environment. Following a recent NetSuite ERP implementation, the organization is now implementing a new Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and integrating it with NetSuite to create a reliable, scalable digital factory. This role goes beyond traditional IT administration. You will act as the architect of the manufacturing systems stack, partnering with SREs and software engineers to integrate ERP, MES, and production hardware while leveraging AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor and Copilot. Key Responsibilities Lead the selection, architecture, and integration of a new MES platform with NetSuite Stabilize NetSuite manufacturing configurations including inventory transactions, costing, and production flows Design API-first integrations between ERP, MES, and manufacturing hardware (robotic dosing systems, QC sensors, label printing) Build bidirectional data flows for process orders, BOMs, material consumption, and batch genealogy Translate manufacturing workflows such as recipe scaling, submix creation, and material allocation into scalable system logic Design shop-floor interfaces supporting dosing guidance and automated batch sheet generation Ensure full traceability with 100% batch genealogy and quality control workflows Establish master data governance standards for materials, BOMs, process instructions, and suppliers Document system architecture, integrations, and operational processes while improving system performance and automation Qualifications NetSuite Certification required 3+ years of MES experience in a production environment Proven experience designing ERP–MES integrations Strong understanding of batch or process manufacturing (chemical, fragrance, food, or similar) Proficiency in JavaScript (SuiteScript), Python, or SQL Strong understanding of inventory transaction flows and financial impact Experience working with API-driven architectures and software engineering teams Experience integrating ERP systems with robotics or IoT hardware Background in regulated manufacturing environments (GMP or similar) Experience stabilizing or rebuilding systems after partial implementations Zing Recruiting is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
