Data Analyst
Overview
In this role you will transform complex data into actionable insights to support evidence-based decisions across the organization. You will build trusted datasets, semantic models, dashboards, and analyses to help leaders understand performance, identify opportunities, and manage risk. You will work cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, Marketing, Sales, and Product to define KPIs and reporting logic. You will translate business questions into measurable analytics plans and ensure data quality and governance. This role offers the chance to shape analytics at a security-conscious, data-driven tech company in NYC.

ResponsibilitiesOwn analytical work from requirements discovery through transformation, modeling, validation, visualization, delivery, and supportPartner with leaders across Finance, Operations, Marketing, Sales, Product to define KPIs and reporting logicDevelop reliable analytics assets and documentation for traceability of metrics, transformations, and data lineageApply statistical methods and communicate uncertainty while distinguishing correlation from causationPromote secure, governed, and self-service data analytics across the organizationDesign and maintain dashboards, semantic models, and recurring reports using Power BI; Tableau where appropriateWrite and optimize complex SQL queries across databases and data warehouses; reconcile results with source systemsClean, profile, map, join, and transform structured/semi-structured data using Power Query, Python/pandas, and related tools; design star-schema modelsBuild/maintain ETL/ELT workflows using dbt, Azure Data Factory, Fabric Data Factory, AWS Glue, Databricks; monitor failures and document lineageAnalyze historical and current data to identify trends, risks, opportunities; perform segmentation, forecasting, cohort, and experiment analyses when relevantCreate validation rules, reconciliations, exception reporting, quality checks; coordinate durable fixes with data owners and engineering teamsTranslate open-ended questions into measurable definitions and analytics plans; establish KPI definitions and a business glossaryReduce manual reporting through automated workflows and governed self-service datasetsPresent findings to technical and non-technical audiences with clear narrative and accessible visualsSupport analytics experiences using JavaScript libraries (Recharts, D3.js, Plotly.js, Chart.js) and related componentsExplore responsible uses of Copilot Studio, Microsoft Foundry, and generative AI for discovery and documentation
Key requirements2–5 years in data analytics, BI, or related roleBachelor’s degree in a related quantitative field or equivalent practical experienceAdvanced SQL skills (joins, CTEs, window functions, aggregation, performance-aware analysis)Strong Power BI experience (Power Query, DAX, modeling, interactive design, refresh strategies, row-level security) and exposure to TableauAdvanced spreadsheet skills; data cleaning and reconciliation from multiple sourcesKnowledge of dimensional data modeling, KPI design, data dictionaries, ETL/ELT concepts, source-to-target mappingPython with pandas and/or R for data manipulation and analysisUnderstanding of descriptive statistics, sampling, confidence intervals, hypothesis testingAbility to gather requirements, manage priorities, communicate findings, influence decisions with evidenceUnited States Security Clearance or ability to obtain oneCertifications such as Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300), Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600), Tableau Data Analyst or Tableau Desktop SpecialistExperience in regulated or defense-adjacent environmentsstrong communication with technical and non-technical audiencesstakeholder collaboration across functionsproblem-solving and data translationSQL (joins, CTEs, window functions)Power BI (Power Query, DAX, modeling)Tableau
