Radiology Assistant/Transporter

Beloit Health System is looking to add a Radiology Assistant to our Team! Shift: 1st and 2nd Schedule: Week Days - 3p-11p Weekends - 8a-4:30p or 3p-11p Hours per week: Varied Benefits Status: Not Eligible Department: Radiology The Radiology Assistant will assist imaging technologists with patient care which can include patient transportation and attending invasive procedures. Greets all patients, visitors, and vendors. Schedules Medical Imaging appointments for all modalities and preregisters correct encounters. Checking in scheduled appointments and activating Medical Imaging orders. Obtains and imports images from other facilities for continuing care. Maintains imaging records, sending out PACS images. Sending and receiving images via CD or PAC's. Assists patients, family members and vendors. Assist imaging technologists with patient care which can include patient transportation and attending invasive procedures. Greets patients and family members courteously. Answers incoming phone lines in a prompt and courteous manner Handles and screens phone calls, receives faxes and facilitates communication with staff and Radiologists. Directs patients to the correct waiting area. Completes all patient forms thoroughly and accurately. Obtains all necessary signatures on forms. Refers patient questions regarding insurance, billing, patient accounts, payments, and record transfer to the proper department. Demonstrates the ability to navigate and perform functions accurately and efficiently with the computer software applicable to the Medical Imaging Department and its modalities. Help family members with any questions regarding family member having a procedure Direct them to different areas of the hospital. Interacts in a positive, responsible, and cooperative manner with patients, families, physicians, coworkers, managers, and director. Portrays a positive image for the Beloit Health System by dressing appropriately for the position. Wear's photo identification for proper identification by others Maintains a safe work environment for self and others. Attends safety training sessions and adheres to the Beloit Health System OSHA safety requirements. Ensures security of PHI. Maintains confidentiality of all patient and employee information and records, Beloit Health System financial information and business practices Handles problems independently and with sound judgement. Ability to work in multiple modalities. Interact with other departments such as registration and ER in a positive and timely manner Directs dissatisfied customers to Manager or Director, as necessary Troubleshoots and/or problem-solves issues Maintains acceptable levels of initiative and productivity. Abides by attendance policy for absences and tardiness. Maintain cleanliness of patient areas. Activate orders for outpatient services in the Medical Imaging area. X-ray exams such as Chest, Shoulder, Knee, etc. Checks in exams for all modalities. Performs all other related duties as assigned. Job Requirements Minimum 16 years of age Basic computer skills including keyboarding. Excellent organizational, verbal communication, and interpersonal relation skills to be utilized with coworkers, patients, and the public. Ability to prioritize and multitask work. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while keeping information private and confidential. Ability to work independently. Develops and maintains working relationships with other staff members of the Medical Imaging team. Employee possesses the training, knowledge, and skills necessary to perform one or more of the following activities (evaluation, treatment and/or patient care) for patients in one or more of the following age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. CPR Certification within 90 days of hire Reporting Relationship: Medical Imaging Clinical Manager and Department Director Must adhere to established health system and Medical Imaging department policies, rules, and regulations. Maintains ethical conduct and keeps confidential personal and medical information about patients.
