Staff Mechanical Engineer
A fast-growing consumer hardware company is hiring aStaff Mechanical Engineerto lead development of complex electromechanical products from concept through high-volume production. This role offers strong ownership across architecture, prototyping, validation, and manufacturing ramp within a small, high-impact engineering team. Based onsite inSan Francisco (5 days/week) .Responsibilities
Architect and design complex electromechanical systems including plastics, metals, and soft goods integrated with sensors and actuators
Lead mechanical development from early concept through CAD, prototyping, testing, and production ramp
Support manufacturing scale-up with Asia-based suppliers
Partner cross-functionally with electrical, software, reliability, and manufacturing engineering teams
Collaborate with industrial design, product, and leadership to shape product features and roadmap direction
Perform structural, thermal, and fluid-related analysis to validate performance requirements
Apply DFM/DFA, tolerance analysis, and GD&T to production-ready designs
Troubleshoot failures using root cause analysis and DOE methodsRequirements
8+ years of consumer product mechanical design experience
Proven track record shipping high-volume electromechanical products
Strong experience with injection molding and sheet metal design
Experience integrating sensors and electronics into mechanical assemblies
Experience supporting manufacturing ramp in Asia
Proficiency with SolidWorks, NX, Creo, or similar CAD platforms
Strong background in DFM/DFA, GD&T, and tolerance stack analysis
Experience with root cause analysis and DOE methods
BSME required; MS preferred
Willingness to travel internationally as needed
