Functions cooperatively with physicians and staff exhibiting teamwork characteristics. Demonstrates initiative, insight and judgment in decision making process. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Participate as a team memberOrganize time, equipment, supplies, and personnel to provide effective and efficient case managementOrganize nursing activities efficiently and effectivelyUse equipment effectively by anticipating patient needs and providing appropriate careConfirm that proper techniques and procedures are used according to accepted standards of practiceAssist in managing inventory of supplies, drugs, and equipment to maintain availability and stock levels in all areasTransport patients observing policies and procedures, safety requirements and patient needsReview patient’s medical record/needs to plan care with other health care team membersDevelop a plan of care for the patient based on the assessment dataInforms patient regarding routine care and procedures related to the ASC experienceReview post-operative instructions, prescription, and appropriate follow-up care from the surgeon with patient and escort and documents in medical recordDetermine the patient/escort verbalizes understanding of instructionsPrepare areas in the ASC according to the requirements of the patient/procedure to be performedAssemble and provide properly functioning equipment and suppliesAnticipate needs of team members, CRNAs and surgeonsMonitor compliance with principles of aseptic techniqueAssist with the identification and confirmation of operative proceduresProvide continuity of patient care by communicating with team members and documenting accordinglyAssist with proper and safe positioning of the patientRespond in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and surgeonAccurately comprehend and interpret verbal orders and directionsDocument patient care records accuratelyAccurately advise others responsible for the care of the patient regarding patient’s statusQualificationsExperienceEvidence of leadership qualitiesStrong ethical and moral character referencesASC experience is preferredComputer literacy is preferredMembership to local, state, and national societies is preferred Education:High school diploma or equivalentGraduate of accredited school of nursing Certificate/LicenseRN with active license with the State of Virginia Board of NursingCurrent BCLS certification
