Landfill Manager - C&D OperationsLocation: Chesterfield, VAJob Type: Direct HireSalary: Starting at $90,000+ (based on experience)Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Landfill Manager to oversee the daily operations, compliance, and performance of a Construction & Demolition (C&D) landfill. This role is responsible for managing site activities, ensuring regulatory compliance, and optimizing operational efficiency.The ideal candidate has strong operational leadership experience, understands trucking/logistics, and can balance production with regulatory requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesOperations ManagementOversee daily landfill operations including waste placement, compaction, and coverManage incoming material flow, traffic control, and tipping operationsCoordinate with haulers to maximize efficiency and throughputEnsure proper grading, drainage, and airspace utilizationMonitor performance metrics such as cycle times and volumeEnvironmental & Regulatory ComplianceEnsure compliance with applicable environmental regulations and permitsManage inspections, reporting, and recordkeepingOversee stormwater, erosion control, and environmental systemsCoordinate with third-party environmental consultants as neededLead response efforts for compliance-related issuesTeam LeadershipSupervise and develop site personnel including operators and support staffSet productivity expectations and enforce safety standardsPromote a strong safety culture and regulatory complianceEquipment & Asset ManagementOversee heavy equipment operations (dozers, compactors, excavators, loaders)Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairsEnsure efficient equipment utilizationCustomer & Stakeholder RelationsMaintain relationships with customers, contractors, and haulersAddress operational or service-related concernsQualifications5+ years of experience in landfill operations, heavy civil, quarry, or similar environmentPrior supervisory or management experience requiredStrong understanding of trucking/logistics and heavy equipment operationsFamiliarity with C&D material handling and disposal practicesKnowledge of environmental regulations and permitting processesStrong leadership and communication skillsPreferred ExperienceExperience managing C&D landfill operationsKnowledge of airspace management and site developmentExperience with scale systems and operational tracking toolsCompensation & BenefitsWeekly payProfit sharing programPaid holidays and PTOMedical, dental, and vision coverageShort-term disability insuranceCompany-paid life insuranceBenefitsDental insuranceDisability insuranceHealth insuranceLife insuranceVision insuranceWe may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses.
