Published Description: Pay: $70 - $72 per hourPosition SummaryThe School Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive health services that support student wellness, safety, and readiness to learn. The School Nurse manages health care plans, provides direct nursing care, promotes disease prevention, and collaborates with families and staff to ensure a safe and healthy school environment in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.Essential ResponsibilitiesStudent Health ServicesProvide direct nursing care including assessment, treatment of minor injuries/illnesses, and emergency response.Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and district policy.Develop and implement Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs), Emergency Care Plans (ECPs), and contribute to IEPs and Section 504 plans as appropriate.Monitor and support students with chronic health conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, seizure disorders, allergies).Health Management & PreventionConduct health screenings (vision, hearing, growth, etc.) as required by state guidelines.Promote health education, disease prevention, and wellness initiatives for students and staff.Monitor immunization compliance and maintain accurate health records. Collaboration & CommunicationServe as liaison among school personnel, families, health care providers, and community agencies.Provide consultation and training to staff on health-related topics, including medication administration, emergency procedures, and infection control.Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and student support teams. Compliance & DocumentationMaintain confidential and accurate student health records in accordance with FERPA and HIPAA (as applicable).Ensure compliance with state nursing practice acts, public health requirements, and district policies.Prepare reports and documentation related to health services and student outcomes. Professional PracticeAdhere to ethical and professional standards established by the National Association of School Nurses (NASN) and state board of nursing.Maintain current licensure, certifications, and required professional development.
