Materials Management Director
JOB FUNCTION:Responsible for daily operations involved in the acquisition, receipt and distribution of goods and services for the hospital. Plans, organizes, and control systems and functions involved by utilizing available staff, equipment and financial resources as required by facility standards and regulatory agencies.ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Performs annual evaluation on staff and ensures that evaluations are completed in a timely mannerEffectively hires, promotes, disciplines and terminates subordinates as outlined in hospital policiesEnsures the continuous and timely availability of services by providing for a sufficient number of appropriately qualified staff to care for patientsDevelops organization wide care programs, policies and procedures that describe how patient care needs are assessed, evaluated and met.Promotes integration of patient care services and facilitates interdisciplinary collaborations to provide quality care.Delegates authority and responsibility for department operations and monitors progress toward goal achievementAssists in developing and maintaining written job descriptions for personnel and assign duties based on education, training and competencyImplements measures to meet and reduce FTE requirementsDevelops, presents and manages materials management services portion of the hospital's budgetEvaluates operating and financial performance and productivity in department and develop action plan to reduce variancesReviews department incident reports and takes appropriate actionIdentifies and communicates safety issues and maintains a safe working environmentMaintains working knowledge of departmentsRegularly communicates appropriate informationParticipates in professional organizations and seeks opportunities for self-developmentServes as a productive member of executive leadership team; communicates department issues appropriatelyRepresents hospital externally and internally in a professional manner; markets services to physician, patients and communityParticipates with leaders from the governing body, management, medical staff and clinical area in the organization's decision making structures and processesWorks closely with HR and managers to assess personnel needsJOB QUALIFICATIONS:Education:Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience is preferredJob Knowledge:Knowledge of inventory control and computer programs related to management of inventoryKnowledge of inventory maintenance and contract pricingSkills:Ability to communicate with sales representatives, vendors, hospital staff, and administrationPhysical Demands:
